It's often underestimated how widespread the "good enough" mentality is. Simply serving 90% of use cases 90% of the time goes a long way.

It explains meteoric rises in mediocrity. Starbucks is a prime example. The coffee is mediocre at best, but it's consistent. Patrons often think it's good enough. The third-wavers think it's awful, yet you can't deny their success.

Streaming is the Starbucks of digital media. Fantastic for some, good enough for most, and the third-wavers will stick to physical media.

If it's IMAX or XD, then it should be better than any home theater under 10K.
(I DO mean purpose-built IMAX and XD, not exiting theaters that just bought the projectors after-the-fact)

But why not have the best of both worlds. Projector at home. It's cheaper than you think for a 120" image.

If you have frame-less paintings with room between the canvas and the wall (think Ikea or blank canvas frames from an art shop) you can glue some acoustic foam to the wall behind the painting.

Also, for speakers, decouple them from the floor with a piece of MDF supported by dense speaker foam blocks. You'll get less vibration and better low frequencies for fuller sound.

PS: I think it's 'damping'. I can't quite figure out how one makes sound wave wet/damp. :p

I left Boxee last year for Plex Media Server and haven't looked back. It does most, if not all of the organizing for me. I can stream my library at work, on my phone and stream other people's libraries as well. The Apple TV and the Logitech Revue both have clients as well.

There are no CE devices like Boxee for Plex (if you don't count MediaLink on TVs with the "SmartTV' logo)

It doesn't affect me much because I switched, but Boxee's move to abandon the installable version puts me off. They've abandoned their initial adopters. AND they stripped out Pandora and Netflix.

Can't blame them I suppose, a buck is a buck. Still, put me in the detractor column.

I understand the disappointment. Hell, I'm disappointing. But to knock this is to hate technology. It's a significant advancement in AI voice recognition.

That said, no new technologies in processors or cameras.

I really though the 3G S was just to reach release cycle parity. (4th iPhone = iPhone 4; 5th iPhone = iPhone 5)

I'll be picking one up, I'm pretty dissatisfied with Android's voice implementation.

Clicked through to mention the ETC 5.1's but I see you got that covered.

Might be worth noting the difference between active and passive subs. Important decision when choosing a receiver. Most can do both but when trying to save money, you'll often only be able to connect one or the other.

Also, a common mistake is to put your 5.1 satellites behind you. These go to your left and right. If you want rear speakers, go 7.1. (Unnecessary if you ask me)
