My first thought was to get clear, flexible, plastic tubing (like for aquarium stuff, but larger diameter. Cut it into maybe 2" lengths, cut it open and wrap in around the metal. I would guess that it wouldn't need to wrap all the way around the hold on. Like the outlet covers, it'd be a very cheap experiment. How To Keep Hairpin Legs from Damaging Wood Floor? I totally agree about the packing cubes. HUGE help. I am also a big fan of a packable backpack. Eagle Creek has one, but these styles from Chico Bag are great too: Jetsetters! Tell Us… What's on Your Wishlist? |

First thing came to mind was to use a wood stretchers for a painting as your base. They come in plenty of sizes, aren't too expensive, good base to staple into. And while tufting is a pain, maybe you could use nailhead trim or individual nailheads to add interest. Hope that helps. :^) Advice on Making an Upholstered Mirror Frame? Good Questions |

I want to give a shout out to Freecycle. Great way to give your unwanted stuff a new home, as long as no money exchanges hands. I have had very positive experiences giving things away in the Chicagoland community. Nowadays, I post to my Facebook page first to give friends first dibs. Ugh… Stuff Friday Meditation |

I take a ton of supplements/vitamins too. I took those small round containers sold as craft organizers that screw together. I have 3 compartments for my 3x day. 7 separate stacks of 3 to cover the week. I stuck a vinyl letter on the top to note the day. Great for traveling since I can just grab the days I need. I totally know this is a pain for the host - but as a person with food allergies it's exhausting for the guest too. I have to navigate my allergies with every meal. I'm allergic to wheat (harder to navigate) and shellfish (more severe, but easier to avoid). It means a TON to be when my friend/host gives me a heads up and asks me what works for me. It's not that I want them to go way out of their way, but it is such a relief to be asked and considered. The Most Difficult Dinner Guest Ever: And 5 Delicious Meals To Feed Them |

Fanastic! I think this works because it's an accent wall and the other fence is plain + it's the perfect color scheme. There's the right balance of range of color but it's still in a limited color palette. So it's visually interesting without being too garish. Before & After: A Salvaged Yard Makeover Design*Sponge |

Like @MonicaK, I am completely in love with my king sized bed. In a long-distance relationship, I'm happy to share the bed with my sweetie when he's here. And I'm super comfy in it solo. It may be decadent, but I adore my giant bed island. My 12'x13' bedroom fits it fine. Tips For Making Your Bedroom A Stress Free Zone |

I adore living alone + I've been with my fella for 4 years, 1 of which was in my 570 sq ft apartment and 3 have been long-distance. That one year was tough since I am very particular about my stuff. For instance, I hate commercial packaging, so I put my bath stuff in plain containers and kitchen stuff in glass jars. My SO first went to take a shower and had no idea what was what. Gorgeous. I really like the two-tone version too in the trivet tutorial. I was thinking of making a felt curtain to help dampen noise in my bedroom. A large scale version of this would be FANTASTIC. DIY Modular Felt Trivet and Coasters How About Orange |

@TRUEPEACENIK I wish that dresser was modular too. Or I wish it had a flat top so I could stack them more easily. It's one of my fave kind of Ikea pieces - one I instantly want to modify/hack and make my own. IKEA PS 2012: A Look at What's to Come from the Swedish Home Retailer |

ebarrett3, I did a month last year in Europe when it was super cold/snowy with about the same sized bag. And 3 weeks in New Zealand winter with a backpack about 2/3 the size. Just can't do anything bulky except hiking boots and coat, which I was wearing all the time. Biggest thing was super lightweight + warm long underwear. And layering lighter layers. I've gotten some great pieces from Ex Officio which were worth the cost for how well designed/useful they were.
