I order some gluten free products online that are less expensive than the stuff here. I know it goes against my eco-friendly nature, but it's something I'm not ready to give up.

I hate that I can't get one of the soda machines here in Hawaii because the CO2 canisters cannot be shipped here.

I actually prefer the front loading dehydrators to the stack, circular dehydrators.

That's the same price of the Black Box wine when we get it at Costco, and it also contains the equivalent of four bottles. We've really been enjoying it as our standard house wine. The local liquor store sells it for $24, but they carry multiple varietals. Costco carries the Cab. and sometimes the Merlot.

Bob's Red Mill quinoa is prewashed so you don't have to do that. I always use a 2:1 ratio as well with the quinoa and water. Leave the lid on during cooking (though I peak occasionally and quickly). After it looks done turn off the stove, remove the pot from the heat and keep it covered for a few minutes. Then open it up and fluff it with a fork.

I've read many places that the pit actually doesn't do anything to preserve the avocado from going brown. How could it? It only keeps the part it is sitting on from getting oxidized. The rest is still exposed. Citrus juice, or citric acid, is a natural preservative and works for me. We eat a lot of avocados here in Hawaii, and the best way I've found is the citric acid and the removal of as much oxygen as possible (either through sucking the air out of a baggie or using a vacuum sealer).

While I'm not a fan of a pink, it makes the place a lot cheerier.

I haven't had any of the stuff in my house in years. I just grab some non-hydrogenated shortening if I need to grease a cake pan, or I use paper cups for the muffin tin. Sometimes I just grease the muffin tin if I'm out of liners. For eggs or pancakes I use butter or coconut oil.
