Rice really doesn't take that long to make, especially with a rice cooker. I'd rather make it fresh than have to revive dried out rice. Quinoa, on the other hand . . . Cooking for One? Make a Big Pot of Rice Cooking for One |

I'm not sure I buy that pasta is THAT much more satiating than white or brown rice, anybody else? Rice sure gets a bad rap for satiety in the US considering how much of the world uses it as a main filler staple. Feeling Hungry? Grab an Orange! |

Ooh, that graham cracker torte sounds great! But honestly, if it's crust he wants, I would make a double or triple recipe of crust, bake it in a springform and serve slices. I would totally eat that! Help Me Make a Birthday Cake Made Out of Graham Cracker Crust! Good Questions |

In doing research for my wedding registry I came upon American Kitchen, which has a similar construction to All-Clad and is much, much cheaper. Plus it's made in the US, which your mom might really appreciate! I haven't used them yet since my family feels you shouldn't use gifts before the wedding, but it seemed like enough of a viable option to me to register for several, so there you go. I just made this from Mark Bittman's recipe and it's painfully salty. He has you use a tsp of salt to 1 cup besan. I wonder if my use of a 10 inch skillet, rather than his 12 inch, somehow concentrated the flavor? I think doing it again I'd probably leave out the salt entirely and just salt the top. Love the concept, though! Crispy, Chewy, Gluten-Free: Socca (Chickpea Pancake) Recipe Reviews |

Made these last night. They turned out great. I thought the process was a little fussy for muffins but it did produce lovely, mounded tops. A word to the wise--I used the same amount of apples as pears without stopping to consider that my large, Golden Delicious apples were nearly twice the size of pears. I almost panicked when I added the fruit in, but did my best to divide fruit and batter among the cups and they actually came out great! Enough batter to hold them together and plenty of tasty fruit. So you could safely up the fruit if that's your thing. Fall Breakfast Recipe: Spiced Pear Muffins |
