I tried to program an "ICE" contact in my iPhone but got annoyed that every time my mother, sister or husband called me it would say "Mom or ICE", "Jenni or ICE", etc... I like this space, but seriously, I have to agree with all the restoration hardware comments. Any joker can walk into a restoration hardware, or similar store, and throw money at their design, but if you're going to use terms like "creative flair" and "curating and sourcing skills" then I expect a little more creativity & sourcing from the designer. I live in central Texas as well and the only reason I stopped to check out this house tour was because of the line: "a builder grade home and injected it with personality, imagination, and life." There are SO MANY of these builder-grade homes in Texas, it's sickening! It seriously makes me sad how many of these neighborhoods already exist & they're only building more! (On a side note, they don't upset me because of the "size" or "consumerism", it's because they're all so cookie-cutter & bland.) All that being said, I'm glad AT featured this home. I'm always interested in people who can take on the challenge of transforming these boring houses. Good job Roeder family! White noise has been indispensable at our house! We have an iPod dock that glows different colors so it's a night light and a white noise machine. Also, I love having a contoured changing pad on top of the dresser for diaper changes. I have one in the nursery (upstairs) & one in the master bedroom (downstairs). What Are Your Nursery Must-Haves? I always keep mine closed & so does my husband. Our powder room door is in a direct line of the kitchen so I always get annoyed when people come over & leave the lid up. (OCD much? Lol.) I recently replaced all our wire/non-matchy hangers with plastic. I just donated our used hangers to goodwill. I'm not a huge fan of plastic but I was able to buy 110 hangers for about $12. I just used really light weight frames (from ikea), they came with plexi instead of glass. I also used command picture hanging strips on all four corners of each frame along with a nail (hammered into a stud). The frames won't budge! Another trend I've noticed is people not wanting their nurseries to feel like a baby's room. Could be a side effect of the economy, people wanting decor & furniture that will last a while longer as the kids grow up. I think chevron is still fun for a kids room! (And I'm not just saying that because I have spa blue chevron fabric that I'm about to use for some curtains in my son's nursery!) Haha.
