Pre drilling cabinet doors and drawers for handles before assembly does saves time... IF... you have them right side up before you drill. :-\

Too bad that photo is not of a mosquito. Has this been tested on all the other nasty little biters like black fly, deer fly, ticks etc?

You probably have a neighbor with a remote control on the same frequency. I believe most remotes are line of sight. Did you have your curtains or shades closed? The other possibility is a mischievous neighbor with a TV-B-Gone ( www.tvbgone.com ). I used to have all sorts of fun with one of these walking past sports bars windows during the super bowl and in my favorite Mexican restaurant during the World Cup. ;-)

Don't think holes would give you enough circulation to dry wet items but this method might make an interesting light fixture in the same room. I'd clip wet hats & gloves to my jacket or the wire handle to dry.

Ha, ha, ha! My paint cans are going viral, Who woulda thunk it! ;-) For starters, try thinking outside of the box (of nails). In this climate, you need screws into the studs to keep this on the wall. See Instructables.com for details. Those who would remove the handles would loose half the functionality. Personally, I'm a big repurposer/recycler. It's part of my aesthetic so these work for me. If it doesn't work for you then cover them with fabric, wrap them with string, paint them red or yarn bomb them.

However... for those of you who feel the need to put these up in even numbers, in a straight line... well... you're even more OCD than I am and should probably seek professional help. ;-) At the very least, consider hooking up with someone with miss-matched socks and odd colored hair.

For even more off the wall stuff, like my double barreled toilet paper holder you can see my other blog for the loft I'm trying to sell: www.eclipseloftforsale.wordpress.com Oh, yeah, and feel free to share it with your friends. ;-)

I disagree about the string lights, it's all in how you use them. What's cheesy is an imitation trying to look like something it's not like fake logs with an old bug light.

If they'd taken those logs and laid them on top of 2 or 3 wadded up strings of twinkling (NOT flashing) white lights, the materials would be obvious and the effect is very similar to the flicker of a fire. I have an old 5 gallon glass water bottle with a really long string of chasing lights stuffed inside. the cord comes out of the top and I don't try to hide it. I sit it in the darkened entryway when I have a party and it sets the mood for the evening and lets folks know they're in the right place. Everyone is amazed the first time they see it. The light really feels like a fire whether you have an empty fireplace or not.
