These are entirely too creepy for me. I love Dr. Seuss for the rhymes but the creatures tend to be a little creepy, perhaps this is why I was Seuss deprived as a child. I would not want this in my home, stuffed animals are as far as I'd go because they can still be cute, these are too detailed.

Ennerida, FYI Chicago is the only city with a handgun ban (it may or may not have been repealed) But it doesn't stop people from using guns.
This ordinance is on the sale of bumpers and not the use. People will probably still use them or buy them elsewehere. There are more issues about the way babies sleep in this country. More and more people are ignoring the back to sleep campaign and putting babies to sleep on their bellies. I had a puker and still put him on his back despite people telling me he was going to choke.

I live in Chicago, and I don't have strong feelings either way about bumpers. I have them but we bedshare so the entire crib is merely decorative.
I would like to make a couple comments because I feel like there are so many different issues. One, bumpers alone are listed in the cause of death (suffocation and not SIDS mind you.) Sleep positioners, which are not available anywhere in the U.S. are associated with nearly every bumper related death since babies can become trapped between the positioner and the bumper.
Additionally, bumpers are advised against in the National Institutes of Health, Back to sleep campaign here in the U.S. but since they are widely available, people continue to use them.
Should they have been banned without sufficient evidence? No, but it is what it is. I don't think its total government nannying either. Its a city ordinance, and there are many more bizarre ordinances than this one. Why aren't more people complaining about government intrusion on lawncare and yard ornaments?
