Sell it and buy an inflatable mattress instead. It really just doesn't seem like the kind of item you want taking up space in your new smaller space when there are other, much more viable, options out there at your disposal.

I'd be more worried about the person that was able to erase all items and memories from past relationships, and only focused on the now, than the person that cherished memories of good times, even if I wasn't the one they had those good times with. How invested and real of a relationship could it have been if so easily dismissed? How quickly will I be dismissed from this person's life?

I'm the exact opposite, unless I'm actually watching the tv or listening to the radio, I can't stand to have them on just to make noise. It just makes me nervous.

I think the only thing to take away from this post is the statement that, "This is not a pitch for spending a lot of money [or spending no money], just for spending it consciously."

Spending money consciously is the key, thinking before buying, considering, mulling, etc, be it a $50,000 desk or a $300 sofa.

What's being moved around, from the pictures I only see the coffee table? Maybe a round table instead of rectangular? Is he unhappy sitting on the floor?

I'd say before you do anything...start making lists. Lists of things that have to be redone or replaced because they don't work or are about to die. Then a list of things that just drive you nuts whether or not it's about to die or is brand new. And then a list of things you'd just like to do if you have the money to spend on it. Not everything has to be done right away and in the middle of a redo, something else is bound to break so don't rush through it all. You never really finish decorating a house so try to enjoy the process and the more you accomplish the more you'll realize your tastes and styles are being more and more defined because you are exposing yourself to more and more things.

I'll third or fourth....always always always double check prices elsewhere. So many times the 75% off flash sale price can be found elsewhere without the rush to buy that second. An example...a Joss and Main sale, little settee that I've seen everywhere but never really paid much attention to, they had a sale on them and this one had a really cool fabric. I didn't really need it so I priced checked it and Target carried the exact same item, same manufacturer, exact same price, just with different fabric selections. And this was Target's every day price, ditto for Amazon and another place. So the huge sale on this item was bogus.

Unless using the bedroom as an office you'll somehow structurally change the room (remove closets or windows) then I wouldn't worry about resale. A bedroom is still a bedroom with or without a bed in it.

Eleventhed. And I had to look up Kate Spain because it sounds like a knock-off brand name.

I would have been more concerned with the brick/drywall hybrid shelves on the other side...still useful and handy but that tiny little peek of brick just seems strange.

I didn't realize you've been elected as speaker for most AT readers. My sincerest apologies.

My cat's $60 corrugated cardboard dome is her favorite thing in the world. She spends more time in it than any other spot in the house, plays in it, sleeps in it, hides in it, drags toys and goodies into it. I guess I should be glad to now know that it wasn't worth the $60 to her or me.

Can I get some kind of estimate for a professional job?
Most any upholstery professional would be more than happy to come to your house and give you an estimate, will also tell you exactly how much fabric to get. Otherwise, it's just a guess.
