Boil the potatoes in their skins, peel as soon as they're cool enough to handle, never have watery or mushy potatoes. It may be my imagination but they seem to be more flavorful.

My aunt made a black walnut cake - about 4 fairly thin, dense yellow cake with an icing thst had the same texture, no chocolate in it - with black walnuts. Best cake I ever ate & nobody in the family knows how to make it :(
