I once bought a fake potted plant thinking it was real. I will always remember the kindness of the salesperson for not laughing in my face when I asked how much water it needed.

Some years ago our local crow population was decimated by West Nile virus. I used to find the crows so interesting ~ intelligent and social. One funny habit: they liked to take food and dunk it in the birdbath (like dunking a bagel of donut in coffee)! Once or twice we saw a fledgling in the yard temporarily, but the adults didn't attack (except once when the animal control person menaced it to show how a whole group would be provoked to swoop down).
