I did one for the first time last year and was disappointed with both the selection and quality. Also I travel a lot so it became stressful to find time to use all the produce before it went bad.

This year we decided to take what we would have spent per week for a CSA and go to farmer's markets more often where we can get exactly what we want and see the quality before we buy.

My granny cart (similar to #2) was a lifesaver when I lived in downtown DC and didn't have a car for a few years. The nearest grocery store was half a mile away.

Don't be deterred by the strange looks on the bus/street. Those people are just jealous that you are hauling lots of heavy food home from the store with ease.

Frozen wraps or burritos would be great because you can eat them with one hand.

Here are two recipes I would ideally have in my freezer at all times:

This is so delicious!!! I was skeptical about all of the spices, but I am so glad I didn't leave any of them out. I can't wait to bring this for lunch next week alongside some butternut squash and carrot soup I am making.

I made a few substitutions based on ingredients I had in the house already and personal preferences:
- dried cherries instead of cranberries
- israeli couscous instead of regular couscous (adds a nice chewiness)
- lemon juice instead of vinegar (husband doesn't like vinegar)
- lemon zest instead of orange zest (that way the rest of the orange doesn't go to waste, instead you are using a whole lemon)

I think the mixture was still a little too warm when I added the goat cheese, but that was actually a happy accident because the cheese melted a little and made everything even more yummy.

Next time I might leave out the onion because I didn't think it added much and having it in slices doesn't mix well with the size of the rest of the ingredients.

What is the best way to cook chicken so that it shreds easily?

(Before someone suggest it, I can't buy pre-cooked chickens at the grocery store because they are not kosher.)

My husband is (hopefully) plugging in the slow cooker as we speak so that we can enjoy some curried vegetable and chickpea stew (http://www.thekitchn.com/slowcooker-recipe-curried-vege-67520) for dinner.

Tomorrow night I'm making a dinner out of Thanksgiving sides when my inlaws come over since we were all out of the country together over the holiday and didn't have any traditional Thanksgiving food.

And my kitchen goal of the year is to make more meals in advance (including freezer meals), so that I don't have to cook every night but still have something home made.

I know I am pretty much echoing what other people have said, but make sure that the people you are making the "kosher" meatballs for don't require the meat to be kosher (in addition to you removing the milk and pancetta). For me, keeping kosher means not eating any meat, including chicken, beef, etc., that is not specifically certified as kosher. If your friends only avoid blatantly non-kosher things, like pork or mixing milk and meat, then your plan to use substitutes for those ingredients sounds fine.

Absolutely delicious! A perfect lasagna for fall!

The recipe calls for 16 lasagna noodles but I only needed 9 to make 3 layers. I also needed more than a cup of milk to get the right consistency for the sauce.

Amazing! I cooked it overnight and the meat fell apart so easily. Instead of making tacos I used the meat to construct burrito bowls with brown rice, corn salsa and guacamole.

The broth that's left over in the crock pot is delicious as well (and much much spicier than the meat itself). I reheated some the next day and stirred in some coconut milk to make a quick soup.

Absolutely delicious! My only complaint was that it required more work than expected before everything could go in the slow cooker. But once it was all there I could forget about it, go run some errands, and come home to an amazing dinner.

I used sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes as one poster suggested. I also subbed the curry powder for a mixture of cumin, coriander, and paprika as another poster recommended.

Fantastic! I was looking for a potato salad recipe that didn't include mayo or other heavy ingredients considering how hot it is outside and this one was perfect. The lemon keeps it light and refreshing and the spinach and herbs add amazing color (and vitamins!). I had a combination of yellow and red potatoes on hand from the CSA so I used those instead of the Yukon Golds.

I made these last night and had one for lunch today. I didn't have time to heat it up but it was still very yummy right out of the fridge. I froze a bunch of the wraps as well.

I've never made caramerlized onions before and mine ended up burning instead of caramelizing so I omitted those. I also left out the parmesan cheese because there was already parmesan in the pesto.

Next time I will probably increase the amount of mushrooms and tomatoes because they cooked down so much.

My biggest frustration with the $.05 charge for plastic bags in Washington, DC is that it applies to all places that happen to sell food. So, for example, you have to pay for a bag at Macy's because Macy's has a counter that sells Godiva chocolate. That's a little silly.

After I had my wisdom teeth out I had about a week of eating foods that required no chewing. I ate a lot of oatmeal and yogurt. I also made a lot of pastina with butter and grated parmesan cheese. Couscous or quinoa would work too.

Last April my husband had to travel for work during Passover. Because it wasn't going to be easy for him to find Kosher for Passover food where he was going, I helped him pack enough food to last him for the 2 day trip. This included a tub of cream cheese to spread on matzo for breakfasts. Well apparently cream cheese is considered by the TSA to be a liquid or gel, and they seized it from him. Poor guy was stuck eating plain matzo for breakfast!

I mix some in to the sauce for my sesame noodles to give it heat.

I also use it in place of the regular chili paste in this salmon recipe:

Love this idea, but the instructions don't say how to attach the handkerchief in the frame. I'm not much of a DIY-er but I really want to try this with some handkerchiefs from my grandmother. More guidance would be appreciated!!!

I am actually eating some of Mark Bittman's Ale, Cheddar and Cauliflower Soup from the Beer as an Ingredient article as we speak! It is quite tasty.

I tried making the Doppelbock Bread as well but found it dry and tasteless.

Hubby had to work part of the weekend so that meant lots of alone time in the kitchen!

I made the Southwestern Pizza from this site, a beer, cheddar and cauliflower soup, a quinoa salad with corn and black beans, and "drunken" pinto beans (simmered in beer!).

The fridge is now filled with plenty of food for lunches and dinners this week!
