I was excited to find this with the heading "cooking for one," but the topic link comes up with only this one-year-old story.... :(

Cooking for One? Make a Big Pot of Rice Cooking for One

I like the ideas for arranging the composition, but I ran into problems after purchasing RIBBA frames for my own project last year. I realized when I got them home that the pre-cut mats were cut with metric dimensions and didn't fit any of the several prints I had already purchased. Blick has very similar frames (and many more styles) with mats that fit my artwork. The prices were surprisingly comparable to IKEA's, and with a membership discount and/or coupons or a sale, perhaps even cheaper.

I'm excited to try this. I was just thinking last week about how to make coffee for a big group of houseguests expected this summer. I'm planning to keep some in the fridge for myself, too (quicker to make hot water in my kettle than to carefully brew a Chemex pot on workdays). Thanks!

I wish they would start turning off comments entirely on this site. The protective parents here are probably the same ones who meanly criticize candles, sharp things, odd color-combos, or anything else that offends their delicate sensibilities in the home tours.

April Fool's Pranks to Play on Your Kids

I hardly ever log in and leave comments anymore, but I had to look up my password again just to say I am JEALOUS of the kids who live here -- accessing all the culture and vibrancy and diversity and energy that NYC has to offer! Love this place and the whole vibe and style.

There are many, many, many families around the world where many more than two kids share a bedroom (or a bed, or a floor). Kids adapt and thrive no matter what kind of house they live in, if they have loving and supportive caregivers in their lives. I think I'll sign off now, before I get even more huffed up and remember why I so seldom visit the comments section here or anywhere.

Love cheese pastries; will have to try this! I feel sad your mom never made one extra for her family, though. :(

This is an older post, but I'm just seeing for the first time. So amazing... love it! I love the kitchen "wallpaper" pattern; it reminds me of circuit boards so it's modern and retro at the same time.

Wow, yes, I didn't notice the diamond pattern! Love all the motifs, and am already formulating plans to lift one or more.

What a great space. I recently downsized too, but am still in the "what am I going to do with this stuff that won't fit anywhere" phase. Thanks for the inspiration.

I purchased a container of fresh-kale salad at Whole Foods recently that included fresh strawberry slices, pine nuts, red onion and a light, lemony vinaigrette (I'm thinking it had a little honey in it). It was honestly the best salad I've had in a long while. So, so good!

I like the "warm" and tropical musical accompaniment to the painting segment, too! :)

Does anyone know if Mike moved, and got a new place and tour? I'm just seeing this one for the first time. It's one of my all-time faves, for inspiring design as well as what can be done with very small spaces and a limited budget. And I'm totally copying that graphite scribble wall. Thank you for sharing!

Love, love, love the home and style. I don't like it when us commentors complain about homeowner's taste or lifestyle (they're sharing with us, so be gracious!). But I have something else to complain about. :)

Could AT please add the shopping details and other comments into the slideshow, so we don't have to click back and forth and search up, down, and around? Sometimes the pics have captions attached, so it looks like it's possible. Thanks for listening!

I'm doing some LACK research (want to cut them) and came across this. No one's probably reading anymore, but I've used Hammerite spray paint for a metal finish on other plastic items (like cupboard lazy susans) and it coats and sticks forever.

CHI Good Questions: Can You Paint Ikea Lack Shelves?

I believe the recipe hoarders here are stingy, too (and the saboteurs are just passive-aggressive a-holes). Sorry, I guess I can understand not sharing with strangers or co-workers, or having a secret family recipe, but as for the woman who hides the measurements from her own sister after grandma died? That's pretty sick. Why not share at least with family and good friends?

My ex-mother-in-law had a great cheesecake recipe, too, and never shared with anyone. She promised to show me her tricks "someday." Then she died of a sudden heart attack, and it can never live on for her kids, grandkids, or anyone else. Imagine cooking it now and remembering her fondly -- we can never do that now. SAD!

Hm, I'm actually thinking about getting a plain IKEA wardrobe and drilling a pattern of holes in it....

Wow, love all of it, but yes, those modular cubes AND the storage/wardrobe in the bedroom are especially coolio. And the windows with those deep sills.

I've done all kinds of research, but can't find anything about storing all my music on an external drive while still being able to play them off my laptop. I just want to free up the space; isn't this a common need? Apparently the storage device still needs the OS? In case anyone is looking for a new story/post idea....

Hey, why stop with a "TOC"? All it takes is a couple of additional simple steps! One: Jot down a list of every piece of paper in your filing cabinet. Two: Carry it with you wherever you go. Optional: Make copies and keep them in your workplace, car, and parents' home. Don't forget to add to the list each time you file something, or cross out whatever has been purged! So simple and easy - you will always know exactly what's in your files!
