Ok we get it, you're rich. Great home!

This is a gorgeous place but it is SO NOT HOLLYWOOD REGENCY! I am a HR fanatic and this is what you can look for in a true HR home:

1. Bamboo - whether it be faux or real.
2. Gold and silver shiny everything.
3. Mirrored furniture.
4. Chinese inspired furniture (look up Chinese Chippendale)
5. Fabric and patterns that are basically anything http://caitlinwilsondesign.blogspot.com/
6. Bold and vibrant colors usually paired with white or black furniture

Hollywood Regency came from the 1930's/1940's time of all of the fancy actors and actresses in Hollywood. It's old glam, basically. And it's simply stunning (when done right). Still having a hard time putting it together? Well if you've ever been to Hawaii, think Penthouse Suite in the Hilton Hotel in Hawaii during the 1930's.

I did a GIANT thesis on Urban Renewal in college. This home is the equivalent of the new plastic and glass modern North Face store on the gorgeously historic Grand Ave. in St. Paul, MN. It sticks out like a sore thumb and it breaks up the genuine feel of the entire neighborhood.

I also would hate to live on either side of this. Houses like these are becoming more and more prominent in places like Venice, CA. Which is sad because it's so full of beautiful old beach homes full of character.

Urban Renewal is based off of taking the characteristics of the neighborhood and building around them. If you don't like the characteristics of the neighborhood then go to another location. This house would work perfect downtown.

If you can find a paint sample to take to a Home Depot or Lowe's - tape of and paint a small section on the side and behind the stove a High Gloss of the same color. Super cheap. You could even get really crafty and get another color and make a cute pattern (brick or fancier) to mock the look of a back splash.
