these look good. i don't think the vegans are completely out of line by stating that the recipes aren't vegan, considering the copy states that the recipes are the kitchn's vegan favorites.

Regardless, they look adaptable and delicious. I'm so making the tofu/kimchee rolls. One thing for vegans to watch out for - i've see a few brands that contain fish sauce or squid (!) so make sure you read the labels carefully.

as for mistakes, did he forget to save some of the pasta cooking liquid? when he was draining it he seemed flustered about something. usually i add a little of the pasta water back in to loosen things up if i need to :)

I have kids so I understand the dilemma of hauling car seats on the plane, I just wondered if that stap around the middle interfered with the tray behind the seat, that's all. It looks like it's smack dab in the middle of where a tray would be.

Question: Does that red strap go all the way around to the back of the seat? Wouldn't that annoy the person behind you?

It sounds awful, but I'd put it in the corner of my bedroom, next to my desk/workspace. My daughter likes to hang out with me while I design - it would be great to give her a comfy (and cool looking) chair of her own.

I agree with all the posts so far. Being the parent of a child with a food allergy, my only advice would be to introduce a new food on it's own, just in case there is a reaction to it.

If you introduce two new foods at one sitting, and you have a reaction, you may not know the culprit.

Other than that, stay away from the jars if at all possible. Our daughter is a robust eater and she got that way from trying real food and experiencing real flavors. And also by eating the same foods we ate (except pureed and not spicy of course). I tried the jarred stuff myself once and it tastes awful (at least the veggies did) - I wouldn't eat it, so I didn't expect my daughter to eat it :)

Above all enjoy yourself. This is such an exciting time for you and your baby!

We used the logic bag and loved it. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't hold up for very long. After about 18 months it was worn out.

But I would buy another one in a second if we had another child.

I'm enjoying the shows so far - I like that he's taking simple food and re-introducing it to viewers, emphasizing fresh ingredients and simple techniques. That steak and guiness pie from last week looked fabulous, although I looked for the recipe on the FN site and it wasn't listed (which I think is lame). He obviously loves food and that comes across.

Thanks for answering my question Allie! What a great suggestion! And the polenta and brussel sprouts (maybe I should add a little bacon to those? yum!) will be fabulous. Happy Holidays!

Apartment Therapy The Kitchen | Questions for Allie: Hot Buffet Ideas for Christmas Eve Dinner?
12/18/07 2:27 PM

I have 20 folks coming over for dinner on Christmas Eve and I need a good hot buffet dish that I can make. In the past I've made beef bourginon and short ribs, and even Martha's spinach and ricotta stuffed chicken breast, but I want to change things up a bit. Any suggestions?
