I was born into a single wide trailer in rural north Alabama in 1983. I grew up on processed foods and fried foods. Conversely, my mother threw my butt out every day to play outside until dark. I played every sport possible. I am still petite, because I don't eat huge quantities and I am active.

My mother ultimately had gastric bypass surgery, and is doing well 15 years later. I learned from that situation that you can't eat what you want and do nothing. It's a simple equation.

Your weight is your choice. How you choose to manage that is also your choice. Paula Deen is not responsible for my caloric intake.

I'm so sick of blaming people for something that is 100% not their fault. When you imply that her marketed persona has a negative influence/impact on a segment of our population, you also imply a lack of judgement and intelligence for that same group of people. That is such a pompous view.

Count your calories and do your crunches and try not to over think it.

That being said, I don't personally care for Paula Deen's recipes. They lack any creativity and are bland and thoughtless. Yet, I congratulate her on her success. I much prefer Bourdain's "taste". However, if I had to choose the perfect dinner...

I'd have Bourdain in the kitchen with duct tape over his mouth and I would happily cackle like hens in a hen house with Deen. Good food and good company.
