I'm thinking perhaps a dark brown leather sofa or even a sectional with straight lines might be good. I think it would work well with the wall color, but if you go that route, I would suggest also that you consider new lighting and also a different type of rug. I'd also lose the TV stand and get something lower and more modern in a darker wood with glass/chrome accents, if that's your style . I see a nice arc lamp in chrome providing light over that area and a bigger heavier cocktail table in a dark woods anchoring the area.
