Wait, I see that's a toddler bed I just posted. Oops.

I LOVE this! So much fun. It makes me want to watch Alias DVDs and string up red yarn all over my house.

Thanks, all! And @Sugarbakers, I had forgotten about that Onion headline. Hilarious. (-Lille/Emily)

We do most crafty things at our dining room table, so the dining room buffet is full of old wipes tubs: one for markers, one for crayons, one for random bits of crafty crap. It seems to work well for us. They are in drawers too heavy for the big kid (almost 4) to open on his own.

Hi! Emily again. It wasn't wooden--at least not actual wood parquet. It was two sheets of linoleum-like material or veneer. There is an actual wood floor underneath that we will eventually refinish, but I thought I'd have some fun with the linoelum/whatever on top until we can afford to refinish our floors.

I actually agree that chevrons are a little ubiquitous lately, and if this were meant to be a more permanent floor solution, I probably wouldn't have gone with such a trendy pattern. But like I said, eventually we'll refinish the hardwoods underneath, and this pattern seemed like it would be easy (wrong) to do over the existing parquet pattern, so I went with it. And I love it.

Thanks again for the feature and for your comments. This definitely gives me motivation to continue working on my humble little hallway.

Another great craft store toy/gift is the "paint-your-own ______." We've gotten ceramic ponies, wooden treasure chests, and model helicopters, all with paint and brushes, and they're usually a steal.

I just painted my hallway floor in a chevron pattern, so I am on board the chevron love train.

Lovely! Although I will admit that it kills me to see that rug in your room--the day I decided to buy it for my son's nursery, it sold out, and I have been trying to track one down ever since. It looks gorgeous with the peachy pinks here.

My three-month-old son's nursery is light blue (well, kind of aqua) and red. And so is my kitchen! I think it's one of the cheeriest color combinations possible.

Adorable! I'm about to transition my son into a "big boy" room, and this is the direction I'm wanting to go.

I am due in April and making similar plans. With my last baby, a friend made me several meals from Cooks' Illustrated's Best Make Ahead Recipe book. I particularly enjoyed the white chicken chili, the bolognese sauce, and the tamale pie. She froze these in aluminum loaf pan portions, which are great for two people.

Oh, that would fit so much better in our tiny space than our big honking Lexmark, which is so large it has to live on the floor under my desk.

That sounds like a fun party, Deb142!

This is probably too late for you, but I used this site for the small state flags:
http://www.flagco.com/flags/miscflags/toothpickflags/statetoothpickflagsusamade.shtml

And Oriental Trading Company for the flags that bordered the yard (search for "line of flags"). You might be able to find them at a Parent/Teacher supply store if you have any time today. Have a great party, and thanks for your feedback!

Target gift cards are always a huge hit with my son's daycare teachers. Just $10 or $15 (which I know isn't small potatoes when all of the other holiday expenses are adding up, so maybe buy them now).
