I have a home cleaning business - just a few clients on my own and I'm pretty sure some things never get any daily upkeep at all. Most of these chores just require a lot of elbow grease, but one of my little miracles is sprinkling Oxi-Clean into the toilets and letting it sit while I wipe off the vanity or clean the mirror, then getting in there with the scrub brush works beautifully. I also use it for cleaning neglected sinks (kitchen, bath and laundry alike). The sinks sparkle like new after! For showers, I actually vacuum all of the hair out first! Then apply a cleaner (I love Mrs. Meyers all purpose) use a light scrubby that won't hurt the finish, rinse with hot water and voila! Now here's the thing... The cobbler's children have no shoes at my house.... ;)

One thing that helped in my kid's rooms was to actually take off the bi-fold closet doors and replace them with curtain panels. That way you could really see every inch of the closet and the contents.

I love this idea! I can't help but think that an original, interesting piece of furniture like this would be worth the time in cutting and sanding. Fabulous takes time and effort, it doesn't come easy. I used PVC tubing (painted black) as chunky curtain rods with great results. Thanks for sharing!

It is a very fresh colour, however as shades of green tend to date themselves, I would rather see this colour as an accent using accessories not expensive fixed elements.

Just a small correction: The cottage which was first owned by Sarah's husband, Alexander wasn't a new build, it was built onto.
