I don't know what it is but I also adore their blog even though they're taste is a bit different than mine. I appreciate that they aren't professionals or expert designers so you get to see things unfold like they do in real life and they admit their mistakes/share the defeat too.

I don't mind the shelf brackets, though I think perhaps using three on the left side rather than four would have been better. The color isn't my cup of tea but I do like it for them. The only thing I don't like in their kitchen is the hardware on the cabinets, something just seems off about it.

Thanks for sharing this post though, somehow I missed the video on YHL.

Ooh, this is exciting. I don't drink beer but love going to Stone Brewery with my husband (who loves beer) for dinner. The food is delicious and the fact that they are the biggest purchaser of local organics in San Diego County is a nice bonus.

I used a white sharpie paint marker to write directly on the glass jars I store my spices in. No smudges like I had with the wax pencil, it shows up a bit nicer than the regular sharpie, and it still comes off with some rubbing alcohol.

I can't stand it when people use allergies as an excuse to be wasteful. I have severe allergies and a compromised immune system yet I don't throw things away. Invest in a high quality air purifier, vacuum and dust your home on a regular basis and for extra measure invest in some allergy covers for your pillows, mattress, duvet, and box spring. They make nice ones that don't feel like plastic and they prevent dust mites from making a home in your bedding.

I agree with everyone else, replace most things as needed unless it could pose a safety risk (smoke detector batteries and the like).

I can never decide where I stand on the cool/unique name versus traditional name debate. I have a number of friends who gave their children unique names that totally suit them and I love it.

On the other hand I have worked in human resources departments at multiple companies and have literally seen people move qualified candidates with different names to the bottom of the list because "they sound like flaky unprofessional people." It horrifies me that people act like this.

That said it worries me that somehow the name I give my child could put them at a disadvantage. How did others decide?

Um, I live in San Diego and am totally jealous! I've lived here my entire life and every single time I attempt to experience a winter wonderland by visiting friends in cold climates-I show up for the three days of winter when the snow starts to melts and the temp goes up like 20 degrees.

I am in no way affiliated with this company but the BEST thing I've found is by a company called Howard's Naturals. A local woodworker gave me a bottle and I went home and instantly cleaned up all of my furniture. Water-rings (that I'd given up on) in my coffee table, scratches on my nightstand, the legs on my dining room chairs, all looked brand-new.

I don't understand how it works the way it does as it is only a wood "cleaner" but it makes everything beautiful!

Again, I am no way affiliated with this company and this is one of the only products I would rant about like this.

I could care less if something is trendy as long as I enjoy it. That said, I think the reason things go out of trend is simply because we get tired of looking at the same thing on a constant basis and are just naturally drawn to new inspiring things. Isn't what makes a 'classic' piece so special the fact that it is one of the few things you just don't get tired of?

If "Keep Calm, Carry On" speaks to when you see it, keep it. If you've seen it a million times and it doesn't do anything for you, replace it with a new item of interest. I think it is just silly to buy something or get rid of something because you're primary concern is having objects for the purpose of self-validation. That is just silly to me.

The transformation at that price is completely incredible. Although, I think it looks like it is still in the middle of renovations. I am also curious what is that little shelf for next to the toilet is for?

I agree to have friends who aren't going to pay attention to those things but it always seems to benefit me to have the extra motivation to really clean house.

That being said one thing I thing I like to clean before a big party is the trash can. I have very helpful friends who always offer to take the trash out and it is pretty embarrassing to have them pull the trash bag out only to discover stinky bits of food stuck to the bottom.

I had their last generation tea kettle and loved it...until it fell out of a moving box and down a flight of stairs when we moved last. Very cool upgrade.

A few years ago I worked at The Container Store and became enamored with Elfa during that time. Yes, it is pricey (in my opinion) but it will last much longer than most other options out there. That being said it is an obvious choice for those who are looking for an affordable permanent option. For renters who can afford it (which even I am not) it's great because it requires very few holes, is fully customizable for your space, and you can take the system with you and do something completely different. When I worked there we had people bring in old parts and we would help them do a design for their new space keeping in mind the parts they already had on hand. Often we would cut old pieces to fit new places as well. Also, if you can wait a few months everything goes on sale in January so you can get it at about 30% off.

I think the mobile, color scheme, vintage dresser/changing table, and poster are very beautiful.

That being said, I would be interested to know the intended use for this room. Perhaps the child isn't born yet and the parents aren't done making arrangements and researching safety precautions? It is their first child, perhaps some of the items were pre-existing in the room and are going to be moved out after taking photos?

The crib seems dangerous even to a crawling/walking baby from the ground level as there are many places body parts could get caught. People mentioned the window but what about having a shelf above the window and crib. The first tantrum causing the crib to hit the wall could cause stuffed animals to fall off. The shelf under the other window has a sharp corner that would be at eye level for a toddler. And the mirror over the changing table startles me as a daycare provider I have not had one child who never experiences at least one tantrum while diaper changing/getting dressed.

I apologize for the lengthly response and again I do not mean to be critical of the parents. With over 15 years of experience of working with small children I have seen MANY children seriously injured when left alone in their nursery. Some went to the ER, some have scars many years later, and one sweeeet baby boy died. One chid for example stood up on his own for the first time when he was alone in his crib, when mom came in he was chewing on small pieces of the vintage mobile that had pieces he could choke on and old lead based paint. All of these parents were loving and well intentioned but sleep deprivation and lack of planning are a dangerous mix.

Ditto pretty much every comment here. as the weather here starts to cool down I especially miss Domino. It was a nice thing to look forward to each month, I'd make tea, cuddle up in bed, and read it cover to cover.

I've come to see Anthropologie as a source of inspiration only. 85% of the time the beautiful objects are ridiculously priced. Although I must admit that I have found some beautiful pieces in the sale section, marked down to a more reasonable price.
