I rent and my space in small, luckily I have a deck off my front door about 15'x15'. I use wine barrels, one for veg(tomatoes & greens, rotated); one for flowers; and large pots for various herbs. I grow micro greens indoors by a south facing window. I'm not a great gardener, started by taking a class, journals help so you don't make the same mistakes. I only plant what I know I'll use. Unfortunately, I'm not having luck w/peppers, this year is my 3rd attempt. Strawberries are great but I would say plant a lot for a decent bowl full. I planted 4 plants last spring and was only getting a couple a day. Calling Small Space Cooks Who Garden: What Do You Grow & How Do You Do It? Reader Intelligence Request |

Agree with 'wingchee', Restoration Hardware sofa's start at 5' and have a decent depth option too. Sofa U Love, is another good option for a custom sofa. I find most small sofas lack depth, a custom made can fix that. Small Space Seating: Sofas & Loveseats Under 60 Inches Wide |

I don't use a timer but I do check the clock, this helps in case I need to make a note regarding too much time or not enough. I do like sharp knives and I don't use a steel; I just take them for a professional sharpening once or twice a year. Definitely a fan of tossing a salad with my hands. Very nice! I'm curious about the SMEG; been thinking about purchasing one for a couple of years - are they reliable? The reviews I've read are negative. Haleigh's Charming Parisian Kitchen Kitchen Tour |

Completely agree with JustinR - I have appropriate glasses for expensive wine to use when the 'mood' calls for it just like vintage tumblers or bistro glasses when I'm feeling more whatever. Bottom line: use what you want. I also prefer beer in the bottle not a can or a frosted mug but that's another story... Are Stemmed Wine Glasses Necessary? |

Wow! Lots of comments - no time to get through all. I do agree with sassypants, Keep Calm blah-blah-blah, must go. So does the term 'mid century modern' I'm so sick of it. Also, those white ceramic garden stools, they're everywhere! I do have a confession though - I have a carpeted toilet seat cover ... hey, I have no men in my house, okay! Open shelving or not - if the earthquake is strong enough, it can be a real mess. During the Norhridge quake, my cupboards and kitchen drawers opened just to catch the flying dishes from the other side! No exaggeration! My biggest concern about open shelving would be the dust factor. How To Know if You're Ready for Open Kitchen Shelving |

My bedroom looks identical to yours except my windows are wider. I have 2in wide white wooden blinds in both windows. After 3years I've decided to embrace the windows and get over not having a headboard. I keep just 3 pillows (2 have a bold print case) on my bed, flat and not against the wall. Lindsey - you're place is lovely! I noticed what looks like a wall furnace in your dining area, curious if you have anything hanging on the wall next to it? I have a similar situation and don't know if it's best to leave the wall blank or hang something to distract attention. Lindsay's Modern Bohemian in Silver Lake House Tour |
