I adore Latin Food, having latin roots I'm partial to the dishes that I was exposed to during my youth. But I adore Spanish Tapas and authentic Mexican cuisine. I just made my first posole of the season this weekend, and I can turn just about anything into an empanada.

Other than coleslaw the only thing I do with cabbage is braise it (cook it down) with some nice smoky thick cut bacon, but its really good and a quick and easy side. Lots of fresh ground black pepper and salt.

Great idea, I went a little crazy and bought a ton of Soba noodles during my last trip to the Asian market.

How far do you guys travel to get fresh produce?
I live in New Jersey, closer to Philadelphia than New York City and I have finally found a CSA. This particular one is a 45 minute drive away from me (they don't deliver, I have to pick it up). So I was curious if anyone else has to basically do a commute to get their fresh veggies. Even with the high cost of gas to me its still worth it.

I live in New Jersey so I'm just now getting into the swing of things with my container garden. I have plenty of outside space to do something bigger but I'm also 7 months pregnant with my second child so container gardening will have to work for this year.

I have a window box with Rosemary, Flat-leaf parlsey, mint, and Thyme.

A basil plant on my windowsill

Two huge galvinized tubs, one with red leaf lettuce the other with two tomato plants, Tomatillos, and Jalapeno peppers.

I'm also very fortunate that my grandparents live near by and my grandfather has a HUGE garden that he's been keeping for over 40 years. Beefsteak tomatoes, assorted greens, bell peppers, yellow, red, & white onions, zuchinni, yellow squash, corn, green beans, black beans, black eye peas, canalope, I'm sure I'm forgetting something but needless to say during the spring and summer months I don't have to purchase any fresh produce other than summer berries.

I have over 200 cookbooks and counting. I started my cookbook fetish back in the late 90's when I worked for Williams-Sonoma and of course it continued once I decided to go to Culinary school. Now I review cookbooks from time to time so they just never go away. I have managed to part with a few of the ones that were sent to me for review but the ones I purchased with my hard earned cash aren't going anywhere (much to my husband's dismay).

I have plenty that I've never cooked from and I definitely sit and read through them like they are novels. Don't most great cookbooks have a great story behind them.
The ones that I review I have to try at least one recipe from them because that's just part of the review process.

I used to buy it when I worked for Williams-Sonoma many moons ago. My favorite was the "Marco Polo" and "Vanille des Iles".

I love this idea, but what particular variety of cheese benefit more from this type of storage or do all cheeses?

Last week I made one of my absolute favorite spring recipes, a deliciously simple asparagus tart.

I own a four bedroom Cape Cod and the smallest room in the house next to the bathroom is the kitchen. It's located in the back of the house so I want to gut it and add on so badddddd...but with baby#2 on the way that isn't feasible. I try to keep the counters clutter free, most of my appliances are stored in my china hutch. My next plan is to re do the cabinets much like what acushla did and get myself a new stove. I wanted to wait until I gutted the kitchen but since I don't see that happening any time soon I'm gonna just go ahead and get a new stove now with a new hood.
