Mary Wynn - You don't really need an adaptation. What you want at the end of any kneading for this kind of thing is a smooth, elastic dough that cleans the sides of the bowl or surface as you knead it - that sticky feel, that isn't glorpy.

Four generations of my family has hand-painted ceramic dolls. Needless to say, "displaying them on eBay" is not something that will ever happen for us :)

What we did was, for special favourites, commissioned a relative to create a glass doll display case for each individual doll, and set up about 5 of the cases across a shelving unit, which gave them an odd kin of built in feel. The reason for doing this was primarily to keep the dolls in good shape while allowing for an essentially 3d view - eventually you'll be dealing with dust getting in the hair, on the clothes, etc, and that's a giant pain in the ass to get rid of.

Ours look sort of, but not completely, like this - http://www.finehomedisplays.com/proddetail.asp?prod=5056 - (Ours are bigger, a different wood, etc)

Um... the door pictured, I'm quite sure, is not the door that the OP is writing about.... Unless the PM of the UK has changed genders, changed names, and has a secret affinity for beginning woodwork... :)

That being said, I had to do the same thing with my bedroom, and you can also use a jigsaw as long as you use something as a guide and go very carefully. I'd probably use a wide wood plane - one that can go the width of the door to keep it even - and mark BOTH sides.

One of the meaner things a guy I knew did, when selling his house to someone who was being a real jerk about the situation, was go downstairs, and sharpie over all the fuse box labels. It doesn't help that it seemed like the house had originally been wired by a schizophrenic - I bet it took years to sort it back out.

Akgreengirl - not a dumb question. Oilcloth is waterproof - cotton is not. so any moisture in whatever you're storing would just escape, whereas with the oilcloth it would mostly be kept in place.

If you're the DIY sort, hunt out a book called "French General: Home Sewn" - it has a pattern which would easily be modifiable to be more modern by using fabric paint or whatever you wish.

There wouldn't really be an "edition number", per se. National Geographic is considered to be the owner of any image created for it, and as such, there'd be more likely to be some kind of internal reference number rather than something specifically signed. Photographers submit negatives (or digital cards, anymore) and have, according to my sources, no say whatsoever in what images are printed from those negatives.

As an aside, for those interested in the topic, check out a book by Lutz & Collins called "Reading National Geographic" - http://www.amazon.com/Reading-National-Geographic-Catherine-Lutz/dp/0226497240/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253150608&sr=8-1

Well, for the easiest, I'd probably see if you can find a replacement at Home Hardware or something. You may be able to pry off the old one, put on the new one, and paint.

Otherwise, the way my partner does it is to go at it very carefully with an xacto knife, which is slow and arduous and really kind of sucks. It might be easiest, too, to pry it off and do that on a dining room table.

Common in Canada - Princess Margaret and a number of other hospitals do them, especially. I've never had the cash to drop on them, but they certainly are attractive.

I got used to watching tv at a high height when I was little - about shoulder height on me now at 5'10. Nobody's ever complained, I HATE it when a tv is at the level of my toes - *that's* what hurts my neck.
