I've driven by this place and as previous commenters suggested, it is no in a fancy neighborhood with high rents.

We've had natural latex mattress for four years. We bought it locally at mulligan mattress (portland, oregon). We paid around $2,000 for a queen. It is worth every penny.

Allergies: I get hives when I touch natural latex, this has a thick organic cotton cover and I have had no issues.

Airtight covers : not an option - latex needs to breathe. buy a thin mattress pad and wash it often.

Flame retardants: I got a note from my naturopath recommending a chemical-free mattress, no big deal.

WE LOVE OUR MATTRESS. When we come home from vacations, even at nice hotels, we are so happy to be back on it. It has no lumps or bumps. A great investment.

Not sure about TV, but as a preschool teacher I BEG all parents not to let their children play video games until they are at least 6 years old. Children younger than this cannot fully tell the difference between reality and fantasy, and spending time in a fantasy world that they can control really, truly messes with a child's sense of reality. They don't need this!

A hand-sewing kit with real needles and thread, pretty buttons, felt pieces to sew, etc is a great gift for that age. I am a Montessori teacher and 4 is when we begin to teach children to sew buttons and do embroidery if they are interested.

I see two options (long time vegan here)

1. Tell them you are a vegetarian and offer to bring a vegetarian side dish to share with everyone. Do not mention ethics - that is way more offensive than just vegetarianism.

2. Put ethics aside and enjoy the meal, since you made the transition recently and you still eat meat. A couple of meals isn't really a big deal in the scheme of things.

Whatever you do, leave the "ethical eating" out of it.

In my neighborhood the trick or treater presence has grown steadily over the 7 years I have been here. Now there are way more families with kids, and we get 10-20 groups, whereas before there were none at all! I think older kids in this town tend to go to wealthier neighborhoods that are notorious for full-size candy bars.

When I grow lettuce they often stall out at this stage and then a few weeks later start growing rapidly.

My cheap cotton cardigans from target last a year at most with regular wear. My vintage acrylic cardigans are soft and seem to last forever.
I love the idea of natural materials, but I hate throwing away cheap, ratty cotton clothing. Wool is itchy.

This is just the tip of the iceburg in terms of appropriation of native american imagery lately among the young and the hip. I vote no.

I pack for my husband and myself, both teachers. I make at least double of anything, even spaghetti with sauce from a jar, and then pack it up in individual containers for the next day or so. I also like to make a couple packages worth of baked tofu at a time and then put them on sandwiches or salads over the next few days.

Uhhh, didn't you read the comments for that last post? Galvanized metal is toxic and should NOT be used for food! These posts should be removed.
