I used to have shiny black flooring with pretty white speckles in the kitchen. It NEVER EVER looked dirty, no matter what! The only problem was that when I swept the floor, I couldn't see where the crumbs and dirt were! tips for renters: When I was living on an extreme budget, I just used sturdy cardboard boxes that I could slide in and out of deep cabinets. It works perfectly but I did need to replace the cardboard box after about 1 year. If you can find the boxes for free, then you do save a lot of money and hassle. Now I use plastic boxes from Ikea. I saw a sheep just like this at Woolworth (in Germany) a few months ago! It was in the toy department and I seriously thought about getting it, just for fun. (how weird is that?) as a frequent longhaul traveller, the best way I've found to deal with jetlag is just not to think about it at all. for instance, do not take a nap when you get to your destination if it is morning there, likewise, do try to sleep if it is nighttime (take a pill if you have to). if you cheat and take a nap, you'll sleep for 6 hours and be screwed up for the whole week! I never thought it was necessary to bring water on longhaul flights because they always servce plenty of water once you're on the plane. British Airways also offers free snacks during the flight... I have been using these vacuum bags for years now and am extremely satisfied. Never had much problems with wrinkles, but then again I never packed away a wool coat. If you are using a vacuum bag for travelling, just remember to weigh your bag before heading out to the airport. I have had the problem that I am able to pack so much stuff into my suitcase that it then exceeds the weight limit. I found so much great midcentury modern (from the 30's, 40's, 70's) stuff on ebay: end tables, tablelamps, hanging lamps, chairs, pottery, candleholders, sculptures, etc. I have been using these MCM "antiques" to add serious style to my otherwise blah Ikea-furnished space. I would suggest you browse on ebay for a couple weeks before you buy, just so you get to see what prices are typical and get a good overview of what's available. I always try to buy things which I can pick up in person, since it gives me a chance to look before buying and it saves money on shipping.
