My friend Darryl in the Electra Lofts had a C that looked like that. It used to be part of a Price Choppers sign. Did you by any chance buy it from him? Your place looks like it could be in the same building.

Knowing what 500 square feet RENTS for in the West Village, I can't imagine what 2,000 square feet sells for! I can only bow down and acknowledge with great sadness that writers make far more money than interior designers (sigh). Kudos to you for an incredible job with your gorgeous space, you've really made it your own and it exudes personality, as one's home should.

There's a remake of the Wizard of Gore?? I just watched the original the other night on TV - it's hilarious!

This is my next project! (Well, sort of...my FLOR tiles are going to be an area rug, and I'm using a continuous sisal runner up the stairs.) I did the "wallpapered" risers in my last apartment (http://tinyurl.com/qvbk4s) with a leftover piece of digitally-printed vinyl that didn't stick well to the old, knotty stairs, despite the cleaning and fresh paint I applied first. For what it was, it got a lot of compliments, but I definitely think this post's project is more fitting for the new place.

After noting some negative comments about the "sloppy" stair tread shoe display on the original post, I beg to differ. This is how the BF and I keep our shoes, which keeps them from accumulating in a pile on the small landing and forces us to keep them orderly. It's a great solution for our zero-storage house.

Mine are in the kitchen and I love it. We divided up our house into two apartments, and since our house is over a hundred years old and skimpy on closets, we had no choice in the upper apartment but to locate a super-efficient, compact pair like this (http://img1.classistatic.com/cps/l/kj/09/3/28/950/r3/6602abm_18.jpeg) next to the fridge. Since the dimensions of this set and our fridge are exactly the same, it looks like a clean bank of appliances and not out of place. Plus, it's like, so Euro. Duh.

Bonus: after just attempting to Google an image of my set, I see that the same brand (Asko) now makes a ton of pretty options to integrate laundry into the kitchen in an attractive manner: http://www.askousa.com/laundry/designer_laundry/

I did this with the wrong side of a Maharam fabric in an old apartment to layer behind an Until Dawn curtain on the wall. I'll let the photo explain:

I was given the end of a roll by my sales rep, and because it was free I didn't want to say no and seem ungrateful. But the "right side" of the fabric looked like a metallic silver space suit. Awful.

When your "prettier file folders" link didn't go directly to a photo of the ones I see all the time on Oh Joy!, I was disappointed. Then I scrolled down and saw them. Nice catch! I'm in lurve.
