I always shoot WB on auto. It does a really good job and especially since I always shoot in RAW, it's a lot easier to fix any weird hue in post.

I have nest and I think that their biggest marketing point - learning is completely useless. Not because it doesn't work, it works quite well actually but because it is a lengthy process that may or may not work depending on how you set your temperature. It would never work for where I live because even though it's technically winter, temperatures go from 60F to 30F in matter of hour or overnight. This thing can't keep up. What I got it for its scheduling system and ability to remotely control every aspect of it via browser or an iOS app. That alone is worth the asking price to me!

Current VR systems have to be trained to the specific user that is speaking commands to it and it has to continuously adapt and learn user's speech patterns. If they want it to be accurate, that is.

I always find it funny that someone would have $5000 in computer equipment on their desk then have a dry erase board to manage their tasks or whatever.

We have the big red IKEA shelf and love it! It's extremely sturdy to boot.

For me the problem with most of these is aesthetics. Price point doesn't really matter because it's not really about saving money for me. Simplicity, functionality and style matter more. This is where Nest comes in. Mobile app etc is just a gimmick to have 'features' to brag about. The device like this needs to do one task and do it well.

I absolutely love some cases, especially ones made out of wood but I would never put one on any of my devices. I've some some really ugly things people put on an iPhone which completely kills its aesthetics and make it 3 times as thick.

@BebeDog - You have to have a monitor that supports portrait orientation. Most don't. At work all of our imaging station monitors are strictly in portrait mode. These are extremely expensive though.

Agreed, speakers are amazing! Since I can't afford them and I am in the process of building a case I just might use that as inspiration.

@anderlank, you should be able to shorten the hanging rod to your desired length but I am not sure if that would introduce any weird balance issues.
