Latest Comments...

Judging from the amount of comments, I'd say that's a big 'no'.

For years I used 'Boxee' before they had their device, and they kept pushing 'social features' into it more and more and I just never understood why. Watching something on TV has traditionally been a nice passive escape...and I like it that way.

Plus, if I feel actually compelled to say something about a show (which most people I know do not watch live anyway) I have several devices to do so....phone, tablet, etc.

i8kermit has it exactly right.

If you thought people had a hard time with desktop publishing to make a banner that says 'Happy Birthday Kate', let them get in there and learn CATIA.

How Long Until We Have 3D Printers at Home?
3/19/13 9:30 PM

I hate to be the contrarian, as 3D printing seems to be a popular subject du jour, but most of these articles hinge on the idea that everyone in the very near future will be a CAD modeler...and that's ludicrous.

I'm right in the demographic for one of these things..I know several CAD programs, love to tinker and make things, and even have access to one of the printers, but have never found a compelling reason to mess with it. I just don't have a lot of need for a plastic piece, poorly printed, that MUST fit within a 5x5x5 volume.

The limitations of the technology coupled with the barrier to doing anything actually custom or constructive just really make this 3D printer hype exactly that...hype. It's a useful technology, but the idea that every home will have one is just nuts.

Not in a billion years...and I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of oh my Facebook account. Actually, it would probably be helpful as it shows a large breadth of interests and activities. Which is important in my line of work.

But just on matter of principal, I would not want to work for a company that would even begin to THINK that that's appropriate.

Other things I won't be sharing with a potential employer...house keys, my ATM pin, my tax returns for the last ten years, my nickname for my brother, or where I keep my spare cash.

This whole thing is ludicrous.

I've mentioned them before...Koss KCS35 headphones...best $35 bucks you'll ever spend. Rich, full sound, with tons of clarity, and nice over the ear design. They used to be $20!

"iOS users who claim to not need flash are either liars or just don't use their devices very much."

I use my iOS devices daily and Flash support is never a big issue, and frankly I don't like being called a liar.

Pretty much the only local business sites that still use Flash are restaurants that I probably don't want to visit anyway.

Oh my lord this is awesome.

I have tons of content in formats other than H264.

Another feature I've always wanted was the ability to edit the AppleTV menu. Now I don't have to see the TV and Music menu entries...nice and clean.

Replace Disney DVDs Once Every Year?

I hate to admit it, but I detest this rule because I'm completely aware that most air accidents happen within the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes of a flight, and it causes me a huge amount of anxiety. I can't stop picturing how grizzly of a death a plane crash must be.

So being forced to turn off the things that can distract and calm me and give my full concentration to the thoughts of being ripped to shreds...and worse yet, surviving it for a while... is brutal.

Worse yet, our local airport is a Northworst hub, and they have a rule about keeping your window shade open...which has never been even close to explained to me. So, if this freaks you out, you're forced to look at this too.

Why We Turn Our Devices Off During Takeoff & Landing
12/12/11 10:53 AM

If you ever work in manufacturing, it's REALLY hard to buy anything like this...for a price like that. This item costs fractions of a penny to injection mold. There's no reason for this to cost over $4.

Nice idea though...except for the fact that it's made for the abysmal white earbuds.

Here's a first suggestion...get rid of those disgusting Apple earbuds and invest in...well...just about any other set. Those things are legendarily terrible. For the cost of that nice little cable management system, you could have had a much much better listening experience.

My favorite headphones of all time...and I own among many other sets, the aluminum Grados...The Koss KSC35. Yeah, THAT Koss. They are completely amazing. They have a great even range with nice separation. There's a reason that Koss killed these then brought them back a year ago. They're legendary.

I would also really recommend a small tube based headphone amp like the Oatley K272A. Makes a really nice difference for not a lot of money at all.

Upgrading From Entry Level to Prosumer

I don't know why people think they have anything to be upset about. Apple doesn't 'owe' anyone any kind of update at any time.

That said, I'm excited to see some love given to the camera...I use mine a lot and anything that makes it better is AOK with me.

I'm also excited for the iOS tweaks that everyone is getting. Looks like fun stuff.

As Jason noticed above, there is a cycle with these things...big new model, smaller tweak, big new model. This is the tweak.
