Garlic, eggs and old bread for garlic soup. Sardines simmered in tomato sauce and maybe some chorizo are a good sandwich filler and a good pasta sauce. Sage (grow it, you can use it in pasta, mix it with honey for a cold remedy, as tea is good if you are low on iron (anemia) or to prevent that. Thyme is also good for colds and good with lentils. Milk and bread. Tortillas (high on iron, good carbs, low calories)...

No clocks¡ (your cellphone has an alarm, why waste energy and have that annoying light and remainder of how late it is and you aren’t sleep already)

Have a good book (One that you can read over and over ) and read that before bed. I find that if I start and read a new book before bed I cant fall sleep, so I reread... short and children/young adult stories are a favorite of mine , happy endings mostly and not overtly complicated plots.

Put a piece of tape over the “on” light of ….anything that has it, if light really annoys you.

Have a big glass of ice cold water in you bedside table

A cup of chamomile tea.

If you have long hair, put it into a high ponytail

I have lost my cellphone a couple of times, twice i have gotten it back because a person near by was so kind as to pick it, answer (or call a friend from my list) and tell me where i leaved it.
Other than that.... only if they ask me to, or i see them running to answer and i'm near-er (i'll tell whatever person on the line to wait a second)

To me paper is the best. An e-reader is nice, but i mostly read on the bus, so a Kindle or Ipad (to me) atracks way more attencion than a regular paperback does (to me using an ipad on the subway or the bus seems like an innecesary risk...) . If i want to read at home an e-book, then i probably would use my lap, no need for an extra fancytoy...

To me that looks tidy....
why not use a jewelry chest (or cup/bowl) to hide away cellphone, glasess, lotion chapstic etc .Put it over the book and you have (at least visually) less stuff on you table.
Use a low basket (for books maybe) and slide it under the bed.

How Does One Function with a Dysfunctional Nightstand?

It depends..... paintings, photos and drawings of famyly members..... A portrait of yourself....A wall with pictures of you traveling, and of other people or places.... GREAT
A wall full of photos or drawings of yourself..... kind of creepy.

Giving out drawings or oil paintings of yourself as presents...... only, maybe to you mother or significant other..... Am I the only one that finds it weird when people give out pictures of themselves/children/family as presents?

Add shelving along the roof, that way you get storage space that is out of the way. Add a folding table, when not in use, hook it to the wall. Or get only a sturdy piece of wood as a table top and use a low dresser or a pair of ottomans as base. Tuck it under the bed when not in use.

My piggy bank cost me 2 dollars.... works just fine (i drew a tattoo like design with a sharpie, looks great in my opinion) . Before that i had a coca-cola bottle, i just cut a slot on the side with a knife.

My parents would not let me open ANY present until cristhmas morning, but now they insist on opening them on cristhmas eve after dinner, so they can watch the huge smiles on my little cousins as the rip the paper. I, of course, play evil and dont actually let them open them until after 12 .... or as late as i can get away (11:35 last year, So Close¡)
Cristhmas day is spent with our cousins, aunts and uncles.... everyone brings the leftover from dinner (Just don't call them leftovers¡), meat is grilled(more food? Yes), there are like 5 desserts and we hit a piñata and skip the rope (the "adults", that is...) (my 60 something aunt still beat us all, ).
And of course, all 10 and under brag off their new toys and fight over turns in the Xbox. The "grown ups" fight over the karaoke.

What Are Your Favorite Holiday Memories?
12/7/11 12:04 AM

My mother and I have made it a tradition to go to lunch out twice per month, sure we can make everything on the restaurant menu, and better, but it feels so good to give yourself the time, dont having to cook and not having to wash plates¡
I also second the difference a good ceramic cup can make vs one of those one dollar cups people gives out at cristmas filled with chocolates.

Be Your Own Guest: Learning to Give to Yourself

Bring a cake¡¡, in my family most often than not the host will not prepare dessert (where we live, or maybe just my family, it is not common to take dessert into acount at meal time, not even at holidays.. and who has when you have to clean and cordinate 4 dishes) and usually its asumed someone will bring cake or the host will get the box of cookies and coffe pot out.
So¡, cake is always nice, there is never enough, and just not get offened if its not eaten, you bring it as a gift for the host, and maybe she/he would like to actually serve it, or maybe serve it for lunch tomorrow with his/her other group of friends/family.
And yes, i have taken cake to parties where the host alredy had bough one, and someone else also took a cake, and NEVER has the cake been not recieved with gratitud (of hilarity the one time there where 5, plus 3 dessets, all of them gifts for the host...we ended up cuting 3 and having a desset buffet) and hardly is ever cake left.
If there is, cut, wrap it and give people a slice for take home and have breakfast with....If they are your friends/family, they will smile and thank you and even ask for more, not take offence.

Love The Lines, But How To Change the Color?
Good Questions

11/9/11 10:58 PM

I grew with a great (bordering irrational) fear of dogs (any kind, any size) because the dog my family had was jealous of me (the dog was around 2 years old when i was born), and would growl, bark and make me trip (never actually bite me) everytime i got close to it. My family eventually got rid of it, and i could finally go to my back yard.
Training a dog for a baby is important, it may sound silly, and in some cases not necesary, but then you have cases like @happybirthday, or mine that show it can be dangerous not to do so.
Getting rid of a dog is hard, but all the theraphy the kid is gonna need because her/his own dog attacked it is harder.

For 3 years i walked by a house, and every day i would wonder about the color," is it blue?, purple, lilac, aqua...no, wait, blue, or maybe violet"
Everyday.... until they painted the house brown.... to this day i dont know what color it was, and have never seen something that shade again

i want this barbie, looks cool¡¡¡¡

As a kid I would draw on my skin with markers and chalk, not that i would actually had a tattoo made I HATE needles, and my tastes are to fickle for something so permanent.
To me people against this kind of doll need to "chill out", does anyone remember the scandal some years back because a barbie doll who was "married" did not have a wedding ring.....
