I hadn't succumbed to the globe craze until now, but I'm a convert! Some of these are really beautiful and say something about the world that a map on a computer screen could never do.

@inneedofmakeover the stools in the kitchen are drafting stools. I've been using an identical one at my drafting board for over twenty years and would never part with it!

Wonderful house. Wonderful canyon. Wonderful pups.

@serastar,

Airbnb offers up to $900,000 in claims but does not cover liability. I'm also listed with airbnb, and I do worry about this because my homeowner's insurance is nullified for paying guests.

If you are renting out a room or portion of your home, be aware that most homeowner and tenant insurance policies do not cover liability for paying guests. Although the risk may be low, the consequences could be financially devastating should a guest have a serious accident while in your home.

How can you not love a place with a "drawing room" closet? Adorable!

I agree with others that snap after snap of tchotchkes does not a house tour make. I also appreciate @granolasuicide's comment about the treatment of the religious icons. I feel the same way when I see home after home after home displaying buddhas. It's possible all those homeowners are buddhists, but highly unlikely.

Except for the one extending out over the top of the bookcase—which gave me shivers—they're all perfectly nice, but I maintain you don't really need a changing table of ANY kind, traditional or otherwise. Like many parents, I simply changed babies on the bed, the sofa, or a blanket on the floor.

Worked for me. Works for most parents around the world.

I lived in Prague for an all-too-brief few months. I have many fond memories of my time in the Czech Republic, but one of my favourites is of a truly lovely weekend spent with a colleague's parents in the countryside. My colleague's sister was the keeper of the village church and to my delight, let me climb the stairs and ring the church bells. It was absolutely thrilling, all the more so when she said I was probably the first foreigner in 800 years to do so!

Forgive my off-topic comment, but I just had to thank you for triggering those wonderful memories.

At a loss about what? A few bumps, but it sounds like everything is progressing and under control. Enjoy your dog, enjoy your new home, enjoy your take-out.

Congratulations on moving to New York. Wish I could do the same.

Beautiful home, but as others have said it's impossible to get any sense of the layout or how the rooms visually connect to each other.

I'm not an anti-painting purist, but this piece is wonderful just the way it is and it would be a shame to paint it.

@jbmariani I also find these kinds of posts uninspiring and silly, however, I don't think they turn up because people don't know how to use google. I think they're simply used as content fillers; it's hard to imagine that someone can send a post and pictures to a blog, but doesn't know how to google.

I much prefer questions in which the poster is looking for fresh ideas or solutions to a design or decorating problem.
