I know this is probably not the place for this but my mom works for a guy that does clean outs and estate sales and she just picked up a Paul McCobb storage/cabinet. I haven't seen it yet in person (I live 6 hours away) but it has the sliding front doors and sits on the base with is attached to the legs. The base comes off. It's part of the Planner group series. It's so hard to gauge what something is worth on the internet. She paid $200 for it. I'm thinking of selling it for more if I can.. if I can't I will just keep it. Any thoughts or info appreciated.

I believe it is this (or something very similar)

9 Smart Shopping Tips for Flea Marketing this Summer

While I love flea markets most sellers know how to price their items and I'm looking for good finds on the cheap. As you mentioned I find it in poor taste to haggle down the cost that I really want to pay for the item. I'm much more into yard sales and out of the way Goodwills for this reason. That being said if there is something I really want and the flea market has it, I will buy it!

Greasy food.
Exercise (sweat it out)
Water, water, water, water....!
More alcohol.
But mostly just wait it out. I usually feel better by the evening.

Regarding CL, if you do not put "firm" in your post expect haggling. It's pretty much a given that the poster will ask for more than they are willing to accept so don't be afraid to ask!

Don't buy records at Urban Outfitters, they are grossly over-priced. Most cities have local stores that sell new and/or used vinyl. Also hit up garage/yard and estate sales. Don't buy any of those record players.. they are all junk. Buy a good vintage turntable, receiver and speakers off of CL. You can get them on the cheap if you are patient and it's well worth it! Watch out, it's addicting.

I still think the Revolver cover is brilliant!

The thing about tapes is that they start to make noise after a while... and remember when the tape players would "eat" the tape? And the artwork is tiny.

The down side of vinyl is moving them when you relocate.. !

@bunnee... the 1st order of business would be "The Flea For All". It a local flea market that takes place every Saturday and Sunday. We could do a meet up.

I've been collecting records since the 90's and if my apartment caught on fire I would save my vinyl first. Needless to say it's a lifelong labor of love. Everything about it. The thrill of the hunt, the artwork, the sound, the liner notes/posters/photos and all of the rituals involved. Most importantly it just feels REAL.. something to hold on to. Did I mention the sound? If played on a decent system you will notice a big sound difference between vinyl and compressed digital music. One more thing to add is that most of albums that came out back in the day were recorded in sequence to fit the Side A Side B format. Another plus!

I moved to Portland, ME a year and a half ago. I was single at the time and was lucky enough to meet my current girlfriend after 6 months of extreme loneliness. Without her I would be lost. However she is a bit of a loner and doesn't have a lot of friends so it's not like I have a bunch of new friends through her. I have a lot of close friends but none live closer than a 4 hour drive. It's tough. I'm not outgoing as far as joining clubs or groups go and really don't have much interest in that anyway. Did I mention that I work from home? Makes it even harder! Oh well, at least I have my girl and I visit my family every couple of months.

The store is good for accessories and such but I wouldn't buy furniture from there. Call me a snob but I no longer buy fake wood. With patience I have found great pieces for a tenth of the price on CL and at garage/estate sales.

Yup, patience and CraigsList is the way to go. It's funny there is a post about this because just a few weeks I got a beautiful vintage red leather club chair in great shape for $40 off of CL. Keep the faith, it will happen.

I bring most of my stuff to Goodwill but if I think I know there is a demand for I post it on CL.

I hear you on the vinyl, turntable, receiver and speakers space issue. My gear and records take up quite a bit of room in my living room but I found a way to make it look clean. Whatever you do, don't hide the vinyl!
