I teach my students to draw with a soft pencil on paper cut to size of linoleum, then transfer image by placing paper onto linoeum and rubbing back side. This insures an exact copy of your drawing, correct text and all onto linoleum ready for carving. I also first teach Carving techniques using a square erasure to create a stamp. I thought i had a fruit fly problem, but they were some type of fungal fly whose breeding ground was my recent house plant purchase. After i took the plant outside, they disappeared! Perhaps you shoul let them sit outside for 3 days and see if that helps. Help! My Fruit Flies Are Invading My House Plants! Good Question |

Mosaic housewares! I like others feel i have many other skills as well: knit, crochet, sculpture, furniture, sewing, and a whole lot more. Chances are if you are crafty and skilled in one area, you have the desire and skills to learn more! I am thankful my job as an art teacher has helped me learn more because i am required to teach it? I have tried DIY roasting coffee beans using an old air popcorn popper( there are tutorials online and in coffee forums). It is worth your time if you use great coffee green beans and give yourself time to experiment. I used this great color chart to help me figure out which color and sheen equaled what type of roasting level. It took me only 3 trial and error times to figure it out. If you keep a log it's helpful. For me it is worth it to do for special occasions but not a part of my weekly routine. They make great gifts! If you find a popcorn air popper for free on craigslist like I did then give it a try. Personally if you have a good local roaster near you, it might not be worth it to do on your own.
