I'm certainly in this group. I moved a picture in my living room and patched the huge hole from the anchor and it sat there for over a year and a half before I finally painted over it. It took painting the whole wall for me to finally get to it. Also, in my bathroom I peeled all the wallpaper off the walls and painted, but I slopped paint all over the vinyl trim at the bottom thinking I would soon be replacing the floor and the vinyl trim. 6 years later I still haven't. I second the "throw a party" advice. I'm throwing one this weekend and although there won't be new flooring in the bathroom I'm going to paint the vinyl trim white so at least it looks acceptable.

The front of my house is painted brick, I have no idea when it was first painted but it's holding up 10000X better than any other paint surface on my exterior. I know exactly why the previous homeowners painted it. First, the front of the house is a completely different color brick than the back and sides. I'm assuming the yellow brick in the front was more expensive than the red brick on the back and sides. Secondly, it's the exact same brick as the house next door, and there's not another house anywhere close that has the same color brick. It'd be weird to have two houses that look exactly the same sitting next door to each other. Thirdly, it's prety hideous. Seriously, it's bad. I wish the lady next door would paint hers too. The red sides and back aren't bad but the front is awful. I'm currently painting it a different color to modernize it, and get a little bit of visual interest going on and maybe match the paint color with the red brick but I actually prefer the brick painted, even though so many people think I should strip it.

Why wouldn't it be safe? It's 2012 I don't think Trader Joes would be selling it if it wasn't safe. Properly treated, milk can remain shelf stable for a long time as long as it is not opened. The only reason we chill it is to prevent germs and bacteria from growing, and if it's treated properly there won't be any germs or bacteria.

Why don't you just print out or buy paper that looks like fruit/veggies and put them inside empty jars? Not like anyone will be close enough to tel the difference if they're above your cabinets.

It's apartment but that doesn't mean it's a rental. I don't see anywhere it says it's a rental. I think the whole apartment looks great.

Gorg. I wish I could find pieces like this where I live. Thrift stores here are usually overpriced and laminate!

Wow. First I don't think it's safe to keep a propane tank under your bed. Second, I would start over. Serious declutterng would help immensly. Then when setting up the space, think about what you do in your house and create zones for it. Cooking zone, working zone, eating zone, sleeping zone etc. It's ok if the zones overlap, bu you want a place to do the things you like to do at home.

My favorite website for healthy recipes is skinnytaste.com. Unlike hungry girl, she fixates on increasing lean protein and veggie consumption rather than finding chemical substitutes for fatting food items (who wants to use recontituted powder non-dairy creamer in a recipe!?) I haven't made a recipe on the site that I did not like. I live with two 25 year old guys and they eat what I make and they wolf down everything I make from her site. Seriously awesome.

If you have room for 3 feet all around your kitchen island, you do not have a small kitchen. I have an island in my kitchen and I certainly don't have 3 feet around it and we manage. Yes, it's hard to manuver with more than one person in the kitchen but given the layout it'd still be hard to manuver if it wasn't there.

Anything that had pasta or rice in it. Once dried those two are a mother to get off. Also, anything that has blades: blender, food processer, whatever. Lastly, my cheese grater.

You can say something without being rude. Just say, hey, let me put this in the fridge for you. You really don't want to leave it sitting out until it's ready to cook.

I like getting coupons in the mail that I'll actually use. So many coupons you can clip are for processed foods, which I really don't eat a lot of. When I get my Kroger coupons there are always 2 for something free, there are coupons for purchases in the produce and meat department, and there are coupons for Kroger brand items. There are also usually 2-3 coupons for something else I might like but don't currently buy.

The other day I got an Kroger brand item that I found to be lacking (there should be fruit in fruit yogurt, just saying) and I went to the website and emailed in a complaint about it. Just like that I got $5 linked to my card for my next purchase.

And for those who think it's an invasion of privacy, well, you;d be shocked at how many companies have detailed information on you already. Every time you use a credit card to make a purchase it's tracked.

I also wonder why people think it's such a big deal that Kroger knows I like cheese.

Haven't you noticed that when you throw a party, everyone usually ends up congregated in the kitchen? That's probably why people want such nice kitchens!

No to mention that it's so much easier to cook in a well designed kitchen where everything is at your fingertips.

Maybe it's just me but I don't get how not having a shower door or a curtain would really save THAT much space. I mean, my bathroom is maybe 4x4 and I have a tub, sink and a toilet in there.

Another alternative is to make the small room with the toilet and shower in it, and then put the sink just outside the room. If you put in a long vanity with sink on one side and set up a dressing table of sorts on the other, you can add a lot of functionality in a little space.
