I'm on board with the group that says to create more of a nook of a room than an entire room. Take the area by the closet, add an 8'x8' (or smaller) room with clerestory windows and opaque glass french doors on the room. Find what kind of furniture you would like to have in there when your child is a toddler and plan the space on that... Then you can keep the large windows in the main space. The little image of the house with the colors is nearly identical to our house. Our living room is a light green, with a bold green in the dining room. Our kitchen is a buttery yellow and upstairs, our bedroom is a birds egg blue. Funny! The Ultimate Color Report for 2012 House Beautiful |

I would get a series of larger prints or portraits in frames and arrange them on the floor in front of the fire place, overlapping them artfully. Pair it with a plant, or a large vase - like you were decorating the mantle. Possibly get black contact paper to put on the tile to make it look like it recedes. Those would be my suggestions. CITRUS!! Cat's hate the smell of citrus - cut open a few oranges, grapefruit and leave them on your porch, squeeze them around your lawn - see if that helps! Ideas For Dealing with Neighbor's Cats? Good Questions |

We only have two drawers in our kitchen, both are 12" wide.. neither are wide enough for a silverware organizer - so we had to get creative. I have three mason jars on the bottom shelf of an upper wall cabinet. It's at shoulder height, one for forks, one for spoons & one for butter knives. We then have a magnetic strip above our sink that holds all of our cutting knives. We also have a ceramic pot next to our stove that holds all of our ladles, whisks, etc. 5 Ways To Store Your Silverware (Not In A Drawer) |

Whatever you do, do not call your insurance company. You can get dumped for mold issues, and then have to disclose the issue with a new insurer, and they can deny you because of mold! Just my 2 cents! How Can I Check for Mold in Ceiling? Good Questions |

I'm working on a toilet paper roll project myself, however we switched brands & the paper is coming off the new rolls! I have about 1/2 of what I need - I was going to spray paint mine, but I like the idea of painting the inside with a pop of color. Maybe I'll spray paint them white & pick a nice deep shade to paint some of the interiors! My Handmade Home: A Modern Take on Craft Seattle, WA |

Not recommended, but my grandmother always threw one on her gas stove and burned it to make the house smell better. Forget Kindling: Start Fires With Orange Peels |

I think that you hang the bike on the opposite wall, to get it off the floor, but still be able to store it. Add a high bistro table and a few chairs. Some bistro tables even have wine storage underneath. If you like to entertain, it keeps the wine right there! Use of Extra Kitchen Space? Good Questions |

Also, OP, a lot of homes in hurricane areas require doors to swing out by code, so that they don't blow into the house & offer more protection during a storm. But I agree with you, it would never fit under most doors. When we pull up our carpet though, there might be enough room. Regardless, cute project! Easy DIY: Indoor/Outdoor Entry Mat Chez Larsson |

I think you could go with a darker warm grey, similar to the color of the mortar joints. If you are looking to add color, I'd stay with something warm, as the brick is a very warm reddish-orange color. Trim Color For Brick House? Good Questions |

I've actually been to Murano, cool place to visit if you are ever in Venice! You can watch them blowing glass in several places. I love the colorful ones, and think that the could be fun in someplace unusual: a foyer, a half bath, a eating nook. Inspiration: Murano Glass Chandeliers in the Bedroom |

I think you have some great comments here already. I personally think that you put the love seat where the chair is, at a 90 degree angle to the couch - facing the kitchen, and move the television to centered with the couch. Help with Use of Long, Narrow Space? Good Questions |

The trend right now is black and white! You could paint the wainscoting white, definitely. Then paint the top half black for a dramatic glam effect. D-CON makes a "pellet" dish, filled with green pellets. It works two ways. First, they bring it back to their nest and it's a poison, so it will kill them. Second, you can find where they are hiding in your house by where you find pellets that they are hiding away. Good luck! Help! How Can We Stop the Mice Invasion? Good Question |

I think you could go light with a dove grey to keep the room airy, or you could go dark with a dark purple-grey color. The red and yellow will pop off it, and it's a romantic color. That's my 2 cents! Color Prescription: What Color Would You Choose? The Color Cure |

I think it would be a sort of cool place to make a bar/ serving bar. You could make a wood top, like a quarter of a circle, place a small bookshelf or wine shelf underneath. You could use it to hold your favorite beverages or carafes above and your accessories below. What To Do with Fireplace Remnant? Good Questions |
