The tree picture in the living room and the big gold leaf picture in the bedroom are both Marimekko fabric prints. (I have the same ones!) I think you guys did a great job creating a very livable space. I love house tours like this, where you can actually imagine a family living there. The kitchen is my favorite part, also love the bookshelves. It's a very open, welcoming layout. Great job! I bought my mattress from Overstock. I know that's kind of risky because you can't be sure how it will feel, but mine got almost all positive reviews and I've been really happy with it. They also don't allow returns so that ensures you'll be the first owner. It's memory foam too, which is supposed to be more bug-resistant. Target always lures me in with their pretty pictures, but yeah, most of their stuff ends up looking really cheap and flimsy in person. My roommate and I are both from the midwest, but I'm from Kansas and she's from Michigan. This post made me laugh, thinking about how we can't agree on whether it's supposed to be called a "casserole" or "hot dish". I think cream of mushroom soup should get honorable mention on that list--I know it's not a dish itself, but it featured prominently in a lot of the entrees I ate as a child! I have a fake fireplace too, and I put 3 different-sized birch pillar candles in it. I got them at Crate and Barrel, but they seem to have discontinued them. They're sort of like these http://www.wrapables.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=C51804 (but without the pinecones, of course). I like the simplicity of it. Oh, this reminds me of writing song lyrics on my wall in permanent marker as a teenager. Not even GOOD song lyrics, really cheesy pop ones, but I swear they really MEANT something to me. I immediately regretted it and covered them with posters, so my mom didn't find out until she decided to sell the house and took all my "art" down before showing it... Eesh, that was not a fun scene. I think the point of abolishing floating staircases has less to do with everyday injuries than it does with the potential for disaster in an emergency. I agree with many of the above comments. Advertising is fine, but it should clearly be advertising. I find too much overlap with advertising posts written by AT. It's too short of a stretch between that and unmarked favorable reviews you're paid to write. Let the advertisers advertise; otherwise, it makes me skeptical of all the rest of AT's reviews.
