This is a great book for making your kid smile, because it's goofy. But my son finds just as much delight in Sylvester and the Magic Pebble (because the parents love and miss their son so), which is a much better Stieg book.

Love Peacock Alley sheets and shams!! Garnet Hill's sheets are wonderful too. We have their Eileen Fisher sheets on our bed and their in house brand on our son's bed. Company Store used to be a great resource for sheets, but I've found the quality lacking in the past 5-10 years. Sheets/duvet covers have not held up well.

Michelle, I sent you some photos and look forward to hearing from you.

Perhaps the finish/treatment of your Mango wood is better--I'm very glad it has withstood your naughty pug's best efforts. We have many pieces of nice, much older, wood furniture that hasn't warped, spotted or chipped as these two pieces have. To be fair, we have C&B couches and Land of Nod accessories that we enjoy. Our only complaint is w/the wooden furniture.

A word of warning about Land of Nod wood furniture: We bought very expensive Land of Nod furniture for our son's room four years ago. It has not weathered well. It took only a matter of months for the stain/varnish on his solid wood dresser to start look like there was air in the finish causing half of it to appear shiny. We also bought a bookcase that has completely warped under the weight of his books.

Our take away from this disappointment was to cease buying wood furniture from Land of Nod/Crate and Barrel. It looks like Room and Board but wears like Ikea. We bought our son's bed from Room and Board...and it looks to last much longer.

I've shopped at The Company Store for over a decade and I have to say the quality has really dropped off. The sheets are thin and not very durable. In addition to that, you really need to allow three weeks for shipping.

This is absolutely darling and my son would love it. But all I can think of when I see this is all the chalk dust that would land in his bed, rub off on his pillows and drive me crazy. (So, yes, Carrie McBride did beat me to the punch ;)

it always looks like a painter's mistake to me and adds a sense of clutter and disorder wherever applied.

I considered the Argington crib bedding for my son (and still like it): http://www.argington.com/Argington_Bedding.html

It ended up being more than I wanted to spend and I ended up going with the rocketship sheeting from Garnet Hill.

My two year old is thrilled with his ability to keep up with the bigger kids in the neighborhood on his Skoooch scooter. It's expensive but really sturdy and pretty darn stable for a scooter.

Never had and didn't miss: High chair (we plopped him in his Bumbo and eventually graduated him to a booster seat); Rocking chair (we rocked/danced him to sleep--now he's a music fan AND a huge snuggler); bottle warmer.

Things we had but found annoying/useless: Baby tub; Sling/maya wrap; baby monitor (our house is tiny and our munchkin is LOUD).

Couldn't have lived w/out and/or cannot recommend enough: Jumparoo, Tiny Love Mobile; Bob Stroller; Bumbo seat (used it for meals and bathing) and most importantly the Bjorn with back support. Our kid LIVED in the bjorn until he was too heavy to haul.
