I had a sofa that looked like this a few years ago -- it was black leather, the wood frame was Brazilian Rosewood, and it was made by Lafer (a Brazilian furnture company) in the late 60's or early 70's. Mine was manufactured in Brazil for the mass market, but they made some pretty high-end funiture, too. That could be a knock-off of one of their designs.
