Soften the edges by upholstering the frame. If you use a Crypton fabric, it will be durable and cleanable for youngsters.

Just posted on my blog today a photo of a platform bed that has been upholstered, softening any sharp corners. You can see the photo at the bottom of the post here: http://www.kidspacestuff.com/blog/2011/10/kids-tweens-teens-bedroom-safety/

Love the tiger...a safe way to ride one for all who dreamed (as a kid) of having a tiger as a pet! Thanks for sharing the creativity from Etsy.

I really like the dual study desks surrounded by storage. Almost like having your own study carrel at the library! Nice home school room with several different learning centers and plenty of storage.

Like the idea of temporary installation for renters and the storage / bench seat. This set up is good for short duration use. Remove the cushion to have knee room while seated at the computer and control sunlight with blinds if using during the day. Contrast would be hard on the eyes while working on a computer.

Love the Loft! Room for several activities at one time creating family togetherness....and topped off with a great view. Reading room looks so inviting and like a cheerful place to learn.

I have always had a fascination with globes but what a great idea to use them as pendant lamps. Great to use in a kid's study area or home school classroom.

Nice idea but not real life.....except maybe at grandma's house. Too many "no's" in this room.

Floor is great...durable and easy to clean. Table is great....but too near the fireplace for safety. Love having books nearby. Love the uncluttered look and I really love the sliding barn door!

Love the idea!!! Great way to end summer boredom and get kids' creativity flowing as they think of tasks to perform. This should keep them busy for several days.

Will have to add this to the summer survival ideas I have written about in my report on "How to Keep Kids Busy When School's Out". (http://www.kidspaceinteriors.com/KidSpace/Home-Activity-Center.html)

Love your site!
