I moved with my boyfriend a year ago and even if the experience has been a great success the whole decoration part had been delicate to handle especially the first couple of months. I am all about modern and splashes of colors and he does not really have a style and likes to keep ugly old furniture that I am not allowed to re-purpose or throw away.

I found out that not pushing an idea but suggesting it at several occurrences was allowing a smooth transition to acceptance. ;) And finding/negotiating a compromise that make you both happy is key!!

I ended up painting part of wall in red and he got to keep is old lazy boy that I covered with a new sheet!

Good luck in you decoration journey, it is fun!!

I loved your house!!! I like how you mastered mixing modern and old and how you used the
bricks and beautiful woods as a part of you decor. My fav is the very poetic ceiling chandelier made with notes in the bedroom.

I am a foreigner and I experienced two very different Thanksgivings.
My first one with my Urban family or an army of great friends, a bit crazy and very fun, everybody brought an appetizer and dessert around the theme of the Thanksgiving classics with a twist. Our host did the Turkey etc... I had a great time and I am exciting to go back this year with my boyfriend.

Last year I had Thanksgiving in his family. It was very traditional and a bit well!... weird!! But still Ok.

It will be his first Thanksgiving without his family and with all our friends and I hope it will love it as much as I did.

I think Thanksgiving is better with people you feel more comfortable with and that actually interact and help you on a daily basis ( yes, your friend!!) Christmas is a family affair! But this is only my opinion on a very new tradition for me.

I am thankful for my Urban family and our non dramatic, laid back gathering.

Hello All,

I am about to move with my boyfriend of 2.5 years in 2 months, and I would like to thank you all for this tips/advices and personal experiences.

What I will keep from this:
-have a serious talk about chores, money, expectations
-no chore chart
-be flexible and have some Me time
-hire a cleaning person
-have argument naked only ( this is the most hilarious idea ever, I take it)-just kidding
-communicate
-go with the flow
-respect each other
-keep it real
-make a common space that both people like and feel comfy living into ( my BF will have is TV room, I will got my cool art and craft area.)

What I will not keep ( because it is kind of scary):

-statistics
-diverse opinions about "leaving in sin" or not because everyone is different and should make their own choice
-joint account ( I keep it for latter!)
- possible being married feel ( I keep it for later too)

Thanks I feel more confident, this whole thing will rock.

Ana
