So, I fell off the wagon, to an extent. But turns out, mid-way through the cure, I decided to move! So, rather than focusing on typical cure tasks, I ended up decluttering and cleaning up my home, before I packed it into boxes. And it really helped! I took three big boxes and three garbage bags full to Goodwill. Next Fall will allow me to focus on my new space and I can't wait! Honestly, I would have no problem paying $200 for a fan as beautiful as this one. It's not that I'm made of money, or even have much to spare, but I would save to make it happen. I agree with the commenter above - this isn't something you are just going to toss out next time you purge your belongings (or, at least, I hope not). This would be something I would keep for years, decades even. So I'd rather invest in something like this, rather than wince every time I glance accross the room at a cheap, plastic alternative. And prarie girl - I love to do my antique shopping down at Queen and Roncesvalle. I always manage to find some really great and reasonably priced things in those shops (especially those on the north side of the street!) and the owners are all very friendly. Hello! It's Victoria. The Helmer is definitely sturdy enough to be used as an light office/work space. It probably help that the board I've laid on top of it weighs a TONNE so it's not really going anywhere. I would definitely suggest trying it out if you like the look of it.
