Please make this post into a series, or perhaps a regular on AT! I love it.

I also think that that figurine is, indeed, ultra-glam.

That fence is absolutely beautiful.

My husband and I started this process (and it IS a process, not a purchase) nearly two years ago. We ripped our entire DVD library (nearly 300 titles at about 30-60 minute processing time -- each) onto our Apple Time Machine and use his desktop comp as an iTunes gateway for the AppleTV, then started the slow process of selling/trading/donating our movies away. We still have about 30 sitting in a box.

We also canceled our TV service and switched to Hulu and other streaming options, unpaid versions. The Apple TV can handle this, but not without being hacked to run XBox Media Center. We save around $80/month without our dish subscription, and now I cannot IMAGINE going back!

Now we're down to a TV, Apple TV, audio box and PS3 (not counting the computers and time machine as they are separate both physically and functionally), but still have the furniture to fit an additional two box units and DVD collection. Downsizing that mess will come next.

Like I said, it's definitely a process...

I have a BIG drop-leaf table from Ikea (the full-size Leksvik dining table, which I think they don't sell anymore) that has been of marginal use to us. It's probably our choice in placement, but we found it mostly unusable with the leaves down. Plus, we bought it with a set of 8 chairs so that we'd have seating when it was expanded, then had nowhere to put the chairs when it was folded down (99% of the time). Of course, we should've bought stacking chairs, but this was before we knew what we were doing as space-savers :)

It's been impossible to sell. We have it on Craigslist for almost nothing, and have had no bites, even though it's in great condition. Stupid Ikea.

My parents have two antique tables that are the kind that fold in on themselves, with three leaves in the middle that stack kind of like a sliding glass door. THOSE are awesome, because even fully compressed there's no blocked seating area.

I had to laugh at the idea of dogs actually confusing these for real, live grass. Come on, people! They use their sniffers to differentiate, not their eyes. They won't be fooled by a green shag rug.

Unless, of course, they ALWAYS pee on shag rugs.

Honestly, it's completely automatic. I dislike non-natural light and use it only when absolutely necessary. I only turn on a light when I need it, and as soon as I don't anymore, I turn it off (in and out of the bathroom, kitchen, etc). There's usually one last light to consciously turn off before bed, and that's the one in the main living area -- no reminders needed as we can see it from our bed.

My husband needs a reminder every now and then, but I can usually flip it for him instead. He works from home and it really annoys me that he uses a light during daylight hours instead of being comfortable with the light from the window.

Aww, I feel gypped - the pictured cutting board is so beautiful, so I clicked thinking that would be the board recommended. Lame.

I wish we did more, and we're working on it.

Here in SoCal, it's relatively easy to buy locally as the weather allows for a lot of produce to be in season year-round. So I'm a farmer's market devotee.

Even though we've had temperatures nearing 100, we've resisted the urge to run the a/c this year... thus far. We're trying to do the whole year without heat or a/c. It's hard, especially because we have a dog who cannot take cool-off steps as easily as we can.

Walking as much as possible, and we rely on hubby's Prius otherwise. Public transit in our city is not great.

Other little things, like swapping out plastic garbage bags for compostable, not purchasing if it can't be recycled, switching to lower-energy-usage plumbing and appliances. There are other things we would love to do, but can't, because we're renters (like a vegetable garden, replacing doors that don't seal well, fixing insulation, etc.).

I don't feel like a green person yet... but like I said, we're trying. Hard.

Why is the Coffee Sack bag from Super Earth Goods listed as price unknown? It's up on their web store for €100.00 / €125.00 (small / large)... roughly $144 / $178 US.
