Lovely! This has such a warm feeling to it. I too would love to see more, including a floor plan. Great job for under 500 sqft.

Thanks everyone for all suggestions, this is my current project and I hope to be done with it soon. Will do a followup once it's complete.

@cantabrigian1 : What I mean by MAC displays is mostly aimed towards the window displays. The stores (especially the one on Spring Street in SOHO) cover the entire windows with huge highly saturates graphic images promoting the current collection.

@thestephanie : It's the Andre sofa from Room and Board. I love it.

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions, keep em coming! I love this site.

I still need to think about curtains, I am a bit against this because the entire wall to the side of the sofa is floor to ceiling windows with large curtains.

I changed by address recently when I moved within Manhattan. The "confirmation" letter was received at both addresses.... 10 days later not a single piece of mail was forwarded (luckily I changed most of them myself). After I called the post office and spoke to a woman I was told that she would look into it and call me back. 2 days later after no call I called her back. She said that the change request was NOT DONE BECAUSE MY CARRIER WAS ON VACATION. Umm, what kind of a backwards system is this. A week later and I finally got my mail.

I seriously hate the Post Office and can't wait for the day when it is dissolved by more modern technology.

lolax, I have to disagree. While I too could never afford any of the things in this apartment it is still nice to get design inspiration.

The collection of artwork over the bed in white frames, for instance, could be replicated very easily on for a lower budget.

Not saying I hope this blog turns into Architectural Digest, but it's nice to see how the other side lives every now and then ;)

I used to have one of those no-vent compact washing/dryer in one unit things. It was nice to have a washer in the apartment but it could be a headache. I found myself air drying most of my clothes because they would take 2 hours in the dryer and still come out damp (and STEAMING hot). I felt it was too hard on my clothes to have them in there for so long. It's better then nothing thou.

Wow great job. It's not quite often I can fall in love with a studio apartment but I would gladly give up my spacious 1 bedroom for this gem.

Can I ask where that coffee table is from? Also in love with the pair of chairs.

Hello all. This was my question. Thanks for your input.

Had a feeling that it would be too difficult to strip the paint but thought I would ask. I think repainting is my only option. I have one old and one new and well it looks like Ikea changed the color red they use.

Guess a can of spray paint and I have a date on some upcoming weekend. I might paint it bright blue or something else fun. I miss the days when Ikea PS came in a plethora of colors.

I LOVE THESE DOORS. Seriously great job.

I have to say however the sofa looks out of place.

Wonder how hard it was to source those hinges, where did they come from?

Wow, this sure is cool. I am moving into a place with a narrow balcony - too small for a bistro.

I have to agree, its UGLYYY. I dont so much mind the metal, but white plastic, ew.

Thanks everyone for the help. I am so surprised to see so much problems with R&B sofas. I would be interested to see if a company representative finds this post, and if they do please feel free to email buy (at) louis walch dot com

CVchica, What kind of response did you get from R&B? Did they offer to replace it free?

UPDATE:

I just received the email below in response to my request for a service call.

"New cores are 148.00 each UPS 15.00
As a option one time only R&B would pay for one
You would pay for the other and UPS"

UPDATE:

I went to the R&B store on my lunch hour and told them my troubles. The woman was very helpful, but all she could do was create a service call where they would come out and inspect my sofa to see if it was "normal wear" or not.

I asked if it was normal to see this much wear after only one year and she said YES! She blamed it on the fabric being woven (so maybe you should stock better fabric).

She did say they used 1.7 poly for the cushions. Not sure what that is.

I will see what the service man thinks when they come to inspect it. I have a feeling they will blame it on wear, even thou it's only a year old.

Not impressed, and now double thinking my plans to buy a new sofa from them when I move.

I am curious how other people had such success getting them replaced.

This was my question, you can call me Saggy for short ;)

Nice to hear that other people are also having the same problem with R&B. I had no idea it was such a common occurrence. I am defiantly going to contact them, might even run over at lunch. I will let you guys know what they say.

Problem with this sofa, the cushions are curved in the corners. So I can only swap them side to side, can't fully rotate them.

Since I emailed this to AT I decided to move, and might just try to sell it before I move - I want a different color now. The new sofa I have my eye on has buttons on the cushions, not sure if that would prevent this from happening.
