Staged family photos always look like a family desperately trying to convince others and themselves that they are happy. Snapshots and other informal photos are different, but those sometimes quite expensive family portraits always leave me cold. A whole Christmas tree works well as bird cover. We used ours in the side yard where the dogs and cats can't get to the birds and near a feeder. It works well as cover for small song birds. In the summer the wood is dry enough to use in our fire pit and it doesn't pop as much because it's had some time to age and dry out. You could mulch with what you have or use it on your sidewalk for traction in the ice and snow. Apartment Therapy New York | How To: Recycle Our Christmas Tree? |

We almost always have a caroling group come by. We live in a small town in Michigan. We had a huge group this year. Maybe 50 people with little bitty kids and adults. They sang two songs one of which was almost a round because the little guys started late. It was awesome! They never ask for money and I don't think anyone gives them any. 1 city purchased, $2.50 garbage bag every two weeks for our family of 2 adults, 1 teen, 2 dogs and 1 cat. We compost for our garden, recycle at a station at the grocery store. It works pretty well for us. I think the charge per bag is an incentive to reduce your waste. We try to be inventive in reusing things we would have thrown away in the past. Plastic food containers make nice seed starters especially the ones with clear plastic lids. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Reader Survey: How Many Bags of Trash Do You Throw Out Weekly? |

Not. I love repurposed things, but these (except for the one with the flange) look like they'd tip over. I guess if it was for the firefighters you'd be fine, but anyone else... With a little work they could all be safer, but without it they look dangerous. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Hot or Not?: Light Plumbing Candleholders by Claus Bjerre |

I'd listen to your antiques dealer friend and get it appraised before painting. If it's original gold leaf and a good frame you will ruin it by painting it. You could sell it for much more and buy a frame that's already painted a swank color. If it's not original or not a good frame go for it! Do you worry about what they might be spraying on the trees or what might be in the ground in that area? I always assume that land near a street has a pretty good lead content in the soil from pre lead-free gasoline days. I wouldn't make a habit of eating things that are grown as an ornamental. If Apple made this, yes. Anyone else, no. Sorry. Something is off with the dimensions of the desk, I assume that's just a photoshop of an idea, but still. The monitor is too small, too far away and too low and the cd drawer (slot loading would be better) is too large in comparison. Presumably a keyboard is also under the hood, but what would that look like when it's up and why wouldn't all the cd slots, and other components attach under there. I'm confused. I caught a mouse one winter morning with a file folder and sieve - just dropped the sieve on top and slid the folder underneath. Then I put on my coat, hat, scarf, boots and waded through the snow to put him out by the curb. I swear I believe the little bugger beat me back inside. You might as well let your cat eat them it's better all around as long as no one in the building is poisoning them. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | How To: Build A DIY Humane Mouse Trap |

When my son was post bone marrow transplant, soft serve was absolutely forbidden. Actually, it's forbidden for anyone with a compromised immune system along with lots of other things. I hadn't heard that it was a problem for pregnant women, but it's probably not a bad precaution. You won't be pregnant forever--- it will just seem that way. I'm wondering where this is. I haven't been up Miller in a long time and the street scape looks like Miller or maybe the Spring Street area. I can't imagine they would have gotten this past the Old West Side Historic Preservation committee or whatever it's called. It would fit in one of those little side streets with the mid century subdivisions off of Geddes or Washtenaw. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Michigan Home by PLY ArchitectureDwell Blog |

I can't imagine most of the people here painting once in 25 years and then not again. If you are going to paint more often than once every 20 years, it seems you should go with the lower VOC. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | 10 Best Non-VOC, Low-Toxic Interior Paints |

Screens will keep vermin and other pests out, but they won't do anything for dust which is worst closest to the ground. High ones seem smarter. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Look! Bottom Situated Awning Windows |

I love repurposed things. I use an old crock my mom had for charger and cable storage, one my grandmother had for colored pencils. I have a couple of old really narrow drawers from singer sewing tables that I use to corral remotes. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Look! Organizing With Vintage Containers |
