My favorite lunch was a thermos of homemade minestrone soup, which my mom would put in a reusable lunch bag. Kids would totally tease me for it, and in middle school I insisted on a "normal" turkey sandwich in a brown paper bag, maybe with a jello cup. Now i'm back to the minestrone and the reusable bag - Mom was so ahead of her time! School Lunch Mockery: How "Normal" Were Your Lunches? |

This sounds great! I like that you can use it as a base recipe and adapt to what you have. I would have never thought of using linguine, but why not? :) Recipe: Ham & Linguine Casserole, Mother of All Casseroles |

Our kitchen has two 4-outlet groups on the main counter, and two 2-outlet groups on the side counter. I never use all 4 outlets in one group, though, so I kind of wish we'd split them up more evenly spaced. That way I could reach the stovetop with the immersion blender! My in-laws brought their cork-backed hard placemats over from England, and I loved them so much I got my own set. Very easy to wipe clean and don't stain compared to the cloth or bamboo kind - I pretty much stopped using cloth placemats after I got these. The designs tend to be a little old-fashioned, but some of the floral patterns are quite nice (we have the amaryllis): http://www.jasonproducts.com/Products_67.aspx?CategoryId=88 8 Stylish Eco Friendly Placemats Roundup |

Cheese and olives - I never liked cheese, which made me a pretty weird kid I guess. But when I was dating my husband, his mother kept feeding me St Andre cheese and kalamata olives on crackers which I ate to be polite. I love them now!
