I'm trying to decide on a color for my bathroom and torn between going with a bold deep blue and soothing soft color like the last image. Thanks for the lovely images!

I wished I had saved this one posting about a free sofa. The owner used it as a dog bed and after long happy life the dog died so no more need for sofa. The poster said something like "this sofa has dog hair all over it and it is quite frankly a total piece of crap. But it is a FREE piece of crap and could be yours to use as you need."

Once our dogs learned how to use the doggy door its been great! We don't have to rush home to let the dogs out, and they get more exercise by running in and out to bark at whomever walks by the house. In the winter it did get a bit drafty so we had curtains to help with the wind.

At present we actually have 2 dog doors - one from the living room to the sunroom, one from the sunroom to the backyard. We plan to tear down the sunroom ( I call it the unsunroom b/c it does not get direct light, and has a wonderful view of concrete and the alley!) and in the summer keep the dogs outside during the day.

We don't feel there is much of security issue b/c the door is very small, and the dogs barking is our alarm system.

Deborah -

My kitchen is almost the same - LOW ceilings, awful flourescent tubes in panels - so I feel your pain! We are also trying to figure out what to do - thanks for posting this question.

my fiancee installed a kitchen rack from IKEA (pantry rack maybe?) along a bottom cabinet door. i'm now able to open the door, pull out that sliding piece and have access to my various face lotions, tweezers, makeup, hair stuff. I still have to bend which i don't like - once we redo the master bath putting in a drawer at sink level - but its at least a compromise for now.

i did purge my makeup and put stuff i really don't use into a separate container. all medicines are in the kitchen instead of bathroom.

We start off in A because my fiancee loves to be spooned, then I sneak away into C as he falls asleep and end up in G once I'm asleep. We wake up in D though b/c he moves around a lot.

If the dogs are in bed with us we both cling to whatever space we can get and there's no spooning at all b/c the beagle wants to sleep right in the middle between us. The other dog at least moves to the end of the bed to "guard" us. When its the 2 dogs plus the cat and then the snoring kicks in - I move into the spare bedroom.

I feel your pain - we bought a house that had an entire wall of rust/orange/red brick around the fireplace and I hated it. My fiancee didn't want to paint the brick but I convinced him it had to be done and it looks much better.

Good luck with the house hunting!

My sister and I always put our candy together, sorted it by type, traded for what we did/didn't like and gave our mom the candy neither of us liked (Butterfingers, Tootsie Rolls).

A friend of mine told me she starts with giving out 3 pieces of candy at the beginning of the night, goes to 2 pieces and then finally 1 piece at end of night. She doesn't actually run out of candy b/c she has her own stash set aside but won't hand anything from the "private stash" to the kids.

I've heard about adults that accompanied their kids and expected candy - that's a little odd.

LOVE that bar! Is it just a bookcase and you added glass doors?

Great pics, great space and colors.

Wow this is beautiful and so inspiring. I actually like to embroider but always gift the finished product to my mom or grandmother b/c the patters are never my style. I will deifinitely look into creating my own patterns.

I used to have this dream all the time and in my case it was for a laundry room. I love my condo (1070 sq feet) except for the tiny kitchen and laundry center in the half bathroom. In all my apartments I rented I always had a laundry closet with my own full-sized washer and dryer so I could hang clothes, fold clothes, keep next load ready. The original laundry center in the condo was so tiny it could only wash about 3 towels at a time. I finally have a full-sized laundry center and stopped having that dream.

Since I've been reading this blog about NYC apartments it makes me much more appreciative for the space I do have!
