I wish people would stop saying how dangerous key bolts are. In my (very high in crime) neighborhood it's much more dangerous to have a regular deadbolt because of the glass and access from the ground. We have locks on the windows too, and all the businesses around us have security bara. We keep a key on a clearly designated keyhook near the door and keep a key in each of our pants pockets next to our bed at night. It's so much safer for us, it just might not be for a high rise dweller.

I try to go all out! It's fun, we usually make a big craft party out of it. Why not celebrate when given the opportunity to? Life is too boring to turn down the offer :p

I just got a Vitamix food processor as a housewarming present, and I'll let you know that for some things, it's well worth it to pay extra for a better piece of equipment. This is a $400-$500 food processor, something I thought was absurd in the past. After dealing with cheap/mid-range food processors for a long time now, I've been saving up to buy one and just got lucky that my parents got me one as a surprise. After using it, I never knew a kitchen appliance could make the cooking process SO EASY. I can't believe the difference, it's so worth the investment.

So I'd say, for those who can afford it, need it, and can't afford to redo their ductwork (like in an apartment), why not?

Every place I've ever lived in, I try to make my bed fit in the smallest space I can. It makes me fall asleep faster, and uses up so much less floor space! I never get why in most home design shows people are always looking for massive master bedrooms.

I own many, many books, and I will never buy an e-reader. I don't see the point in them - I just bring a netbook & maybe one or two books on a trip, as most of the time I'm so busy I can't get through more than that. Like Aidenpouge said above, reading is like a break from technology for me - one of the last places I can go to stop staring at a screen for a moment. Guess I'll have to build my own bookshelves in the ~~future~~~~ :)

This is SUCH perfect timing! I just bought a set of gorgeous Danish teak midcentury dining chairs (found them by the craziest luck at an antique store) and wanted to find a beat up, chunky wooden table to pair them with. This is great!

Wow, there's a lot of pretension in some of these comments. I love original work, and I'm always in the market for whatever I like. I like exchanging with friends and I'd love for one day to have my entire house covered in great art. No gallery required, "great art" is all around us.

Yeah, I don't know what yall are talking about, I would LOVE to do laundry in that room. Get a fold-down ironing board, maybe on the right side of the toilet, and you're good to go.

In the house I'm buying, the kitchen has these awful purple laminate countertops that we'll eventually replace, but in the meantime, the previous homeowners made them "disappear" by choosing an identical wall color and coordinating colors in the dining room. The kitchen looks totally fab even though the material itself is really not.

My family did this when my cousin was having a wedding on the opposite coast :p
Along with all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and some friends, we rented a 12 bedroom 4 story house (more like a mansion!) right on the beach. (Imagine the trip to be like the family in Home Alone, except three times the size, and more fun!) It was cheaper per family than a hotel, and it was THE best family vacation I think any of us had been on. Totally worth it!

I just started on pinterest as well, solely because I'm buying my first home (and moving in at the end of august!!!) Right now I'm using pinterest as a place to keep inspiration for each room in the house. I have a kitchen board, and bedroom board, a garden board, etc. After we've done much of the work that needs to be done on the house, I'll probably use it the way you are now :)
