This is what I would do: Paint the door yellow, paint the porch steps, put up window boxes with colorful blooms, add shutters to the windows, clean up the landscaping and add a nice outdoor light in place of the old one. It will make an enormous difference. Congratulations! It's a wonderful house.

Ideas to Help Make Our Entrance More Welcoming? Good Questions

We're expecting our 3rd and I can tell you what we didn't need with the first two:

Bottles
Breast Pump
Crib
Bassinet
Pack & Play
Swing
Baby Toys (until they got older)
Changing table & pad
Stroller
Pacifiers

Both of my first two co-slept and never took bottles. This wasn't for lack of trying to get them to sleep in the crib & eat from someone other than mommy...it just ended up that way. I would never advocate for *not* having a crib, bottles, pump or pacifiers - you should. The moral is for some things you just won't know until the baby comes.

Thanks for the additional info Katie! I don't think you need curtains but I would hang the artwork like others suggested and add some height to the room. The corner by the credenza is begging for a tall plant.

In the other room where you're built in media console is - you should paint it to match the trim. It would look sooo much better.

First: Get rid of those curtains!!

Then:
Install a new light fixture above the sink. Leave the white cabinets and get a cute rug. Paint the walls & replace the flooring - use cool shades that compliment the counter and back splash.

How To Update 1920's Kitchen?
Good Questions

I do think white would be too much unless you want to change the counter tops and paint the walls. I would paint all the cabinets gray, remove some of the doors to display some nice dishes, and get new hardware. I personally like bin pulls used on drawers.

I would also paint the base of the island and buy modern stools. You can add pops of color with throw rugs, a new curtain, and the dishes that are displayed. I wouldn't redo the back splash.
