In the UK, we have Open Studios, an annual freeform festival, usually organised in counties, where loose networks of artists open up their homes and those of their supporters, their studios and galleries to the public on consecutive weekends in one month. It's true, seeing work in domestic contexts makes it easier to understand how it fits into your own home, and you might see work that you never even knew existed in your neighbourhood.
