Like you said, checking windows in a MUST. If the landlord does not maintain the windows, its a sure sign that they don't care/don't take care of the rest of the things in the apartment. I made that mistake once and will never do it again. When I moved into the apartment I realized that 10 out of 12 windows in the unit were either broken, caulked shut or barely functioned. Kind of defeats the purpose. I had a friend stay with me for a weekend and I knew in advance that she had a few commitments that didn't include me (which, honestly, was ok with me because I didn't have to entertain her the entire weekend). I was unable to give her a spare key and throughout the entire weekend she would tell me her "schedule" and would end up running late or change her plans and would send me a text at the last minute letting me know. I basically spent the entire weekend at my place waiting for her to get back and to let her in. (Including one night where she stayed out until 2 in the morning). I work for an architecture firm that does many bathroom renovations - most of our projects are in commercial buddings (they get more use than the average home). When using white floor and wall tile, we usually use a darker grout for the floor since it gets more use/dirt and then use a lighter grout for any wall tile. Pros & Cons: Dark Grout in the Bathroom |
