I believe that Johnny55 and Charmac are both right. Urban Outfitters is a publicly traded company but it wasn't always and I guarantee that Dick Hayne as Board/President/Director/Founder owns a HUGE chunk of stock and controls the big picture of how the company is run. The head of the company is definitely NOT left of center.

I have nothing but respect for Dick's business acumen - I was one of his early employees in the 70's and even then he had an interesting political point of view for someone so young. I viewed him as a libertarian at the time. He seemed live and let live when it came to lifestyle choices. I have no idea what led Dick and his wife (the creative director of Free People) to donate to this creep but unfortunately it does color my view of him and what it seems he has become politically. Being from PA, I fought long and hard for Santorum's defeat in the last election.

Charmac is correct in the sense that if a company head's political affiliations affect where you shop you might not want to shop at UO, Anthropologie, Free People or Terrain, their new effort. But FWIW, when I attended a Planned Parenthood event last fall an executive from Anthropologie had donated a big fat gift certificate to the auction part of the evening.

I purchased the Nomade Express last summer for our guest bedroom/office. During a recent visit my daughter slept on it nightly for more than a month. Her report was that it is firm but very comfortable.

Opening and closing it is relatively simple but after closing there is a zipper that helps holds the folded mattress in place that is a bit difficult to work with. It is a handsome piece and I would certainly buy it again.

My childhood home had a huge screened porch that I often slept out in during the summer months. August thunderstorms were so loud and so beautiful. The mist from them swept over the bed even though it was positioned up against the house rather than by the screening.

Boy, I had not thought about that porch in years.....thank you for a post that bought back some wonderful memories.

I own two of the Moser stools and I love them. They are works of art........very solid and wonderfully comfortable. IMHO, when it comes to stools you get what you pay for.

I realize this is an old thread but for anyone who uses the archives to research Curran:

I recently ordered a number of things from them and the first - a desk/table - has been delivered. The desk is very handsome and well made, perhaps even nicer than it could be presented in a catalog. Their customer service people have been extremely easy to deal with. I have more pieces coming and I cannot wait to see them.

My initials spell PEW and I have been teased about it since my playground days - as a child no one was hearing that a pew is actually a church bench. The few items that I have had monogrammed are with my last initial enlarged and in the middle. After seeing the above photo though, I might just let my pseudo-stinky initials ride if I monogram anything ever again.
