I'm another fan of bulking the recipe into a chex mix type idea. I adapted the above recipe (except used honey) and used David Lebovitz's holiday snack mix recipe for some inspiration(http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2006/12/the-best-holida/). It worked out great! I have many tomato sauces that I like depending on what I'm making. However, The New Laurel's Kitchen has an especially good basic sauce with tomato, shredded carrot, chopped green peppers and a lovely mix of herbs. What's Your Favorite Tomato Sauce Recipe? |

Oooh, the rainbow potluck is a great idea! I think another fun potluck theme would be picking one cookbook (maybe from the library) and the guests each make something that inspires them from it (this is assuming your guests like to cook of course). That way everyone can taste a variety of different foods and it would be a good way to decide whether you'd want to purchase the cookbook for yourself. Potluck Etiquette: What Are Your Rules? |

So excited there's another Enid Blyton fan here! She made picnic foods sound so completely scrumptious. In addition to ginger beer, there were boiled eggs, little sandwiches, shortbread, lemonade sweetened with honey, and more. What Are Your Favorite Sweets from Children's Books? |
